Are African Americans the Greatest Traffic Offenders?

Dear FOX 26 Channel:

On the 26th of November 2019, you published a prejudiced and racist story entitled, “The Greatest Traffics Offenders of All Time.”  The news item aimed at portraying African Americans as the leading traffic offenders in the country. In the story, several videos of African Americans purportedly breaking traffic rules are displayed with a banner that states, “Still Evolving.” Also, during the coverage, the anchor repeatedly mentions words that I could consider offensive and unacceptable to the African American community residing in Texas. For example, she stated that African Americans’ forefathers were never educated despite the great efforts of whites in trying to brighten their thick heads. I find the comments and videos offensive; therefore, I demand an apology on behalf of the African American community.

According to the data released recently by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Hispanics commit more traffic offenses compared to African Americans. Additionally, the data indicated that African Americans had shown remarkable improvements in obeying traffic rules compared to any other race: including the whites. Based on the data, it is apparent that the story aired on FOX 26 channel was a profanation aimed at the African American community. Reputable news channels do not allow for lies to be published in their channels. As a leading new channel in Texas, you should be in the frontline to defend the innocent, and not publishing misleading information. In line with this, FOX 26 should seek to have the story removed online since the story portrays a negative image of the organization.

During the civil era, issues amongst various races originated from lies attacking a particular group. As an elderly man, I had witnessed the civil war; hence, I am a reliable source of primary data. False allegations similar to those contained in the news bulletin were the primary cause of racial conflict. In airing such stories, it seems like FOX 26 Channel wants to be the cause of another civil war. Pause for a moment and think of an event where you were accused falsely, what was the experience? I believe you found it quite unbearable. In this situation, African Americans are finding it hard to bear the false allegations. Several of them are probably suffering psychologically as a result of the story you aired. Labeling African Americans as the greatest traffic offenders amount to racial profiling, which in turn leads to needless agony and pain within the community. FOX 26 should seek to apologize to the African American community for intentionally damaging their image. The apology would help to heal the psychological problems African Americans are currently experiencing.

In American history, African Americans experienced inhumane treatment at the hands of their colonial masters. Reminding African Americans of the harsh treatment, they received during the slavery period evokes painful memories that should otherwise remain covered. In the bulletin, the anchor alluded that slavery should have continued since African Americans never received enough civilization. The statement by the anchor is equivalent to saying that African Americans should undergo more pain and suffering in the name of receiving enlightenment. Remember, the civil war in America was caused by slavery. New items promoting slavery can easily trigger another civil. War comes with death, hunger, and suffering, and no one stands to benefit. Therefore, the anchor should seek to apologize to the African American community since failure to do so can trigger civil unrest in the country.

Lastly, it is not the first time African Americans are falling victim to conspiracies like the story on FOX 26. In May last year, African Americans were wrongly accused of being the most violent race in America. The article stated that African Americans were involved in numerous crimes, hence a threat to the nation. Later, the author of the material realized that he was wrong after performing thorough research on crime amongst African Americans. He realized that racial profiling was the main reason why many Africans were suffering in prisons. He was compelled to apologize to the community for defamation. The incident is similar to the case currently facing your organization. Therefore, your organization should carry out proper research on the issue to assert the validity of your story. Meanwhile, as the African American community, we demand an apology over the issue, and the story should be expunged immediately.
