Perspective on Abortion
You will all agree with me that abortion is an emotive issue that has divided our society right in the middle. On the one hand, are some of you who subscribe to the school of thought that insists that abortion is an evil act that is totally against God’s will (Biggs et al., 2014, 2509). You, therefore, believe that it should be abolished. On the other hand are those of you who insist that every individual has the right to decide on matters to do with his or her body. It is true that the Bible is against killing. However, what if the mother’s life is in danger? Would you just let the mother die along with the child for the sole reason that the Bible is against abortion? (Cates, 2012, 363). These are questions worth contemplating for those of you who are totally against any form of abortion. Another way of looking at this issue is that God is a preserver of life (New, 2011, 30). Hence, by saving the life of the mother, and letting the child die you will be acting in accordance with God’s will. These two conflicting thoughts warrant a reflective and insightful research.
If I may ask, would you love to bring up a child in an environment full of pain, despair and financial neglect? If you would, kindly raise up your hand. If not, what is wrong with terminating a pregnancy that was not unplanned for? (Kimport, 2012, 108). This would save you a lot of pain and anguish associated with raising a child while reeling from the effects of financial incapability. While the moral argument still exists, it should be backed up with facts from the reality (Cowan, 2013, 107). If you can barely afford a meal for yourself it would be morally wrong to bring up a child to share in your mysteries. It is for these reasons that I believe that abortion should be legal. However, we should conduct a comprehensive research to ascertain the dangers of abortion and how they can be avoided.
