Introduction
Fahrenheit 451 is a novel by Ray Bradbury which progresses in three main parts which try to describe the stages of development of human beings form infants, adolescence into adulthood. In the novel, many characters are protagonist and antagonists. Montag is a protagonist character in the book who is described as pride person who takes his work seriously. The paper seeks to answer two questions from the novel. The first problem is the description on how Bradbury successfully points out the picture of Montag on how he realizes himself on various functions of human beings undergoing through the stages of life. The second question is on how Montag is like us in the stages of life.
Bradbury says that Montag is a fireman with black brows and glowing face. Montag act as a model in the twenty-fourth century showing development analyzing in this scene. Just like children, he enjoys being in his uniform at work and shows a naïve character while smelling the kerosene which causes the temperature to rise. In this stage, he develops a particular liking for the mechanical hound. He is restless in this case and indicates disaffection towards the fireman sour turnouts. There is an indication that as time goes, Montag concentrates on sports and changing his character with age. He develops a passion for different things based on time and trends. Montag first employment lasts for eight years in the fireman work. However, he becomes more exhausted, and the restless sequence causes him to take sedatives to induce his sleep. This can fully describe how human beings functions and ability to be tired from more work during the day. Montag symbolizes how people have innate nature to function in a specific way. The ability to get affected by overworking and developing disaffection to something one likes.
As Montag enter a stage of adolescence, he starts being more rebellious and gets stressed up form overworking his mind and taking charge of his behavior Montag comes the third stage of life of adulthood and marries which is loveless and meaningless which is symbolized by a description of his bedroom being cold and furnished with twin beds. In this stage of life, he describes society to be hurtful as opposed to the joy of the nature he would often take at his early stages of life.
From the novel, Montag is just like in the stages of life. He plays the story being a character who develops at time goes from infancy, adolescence, and adulthood. There is a description of how Montag participates in various tasks in the society and fireman work showing him taking sides in developing the society. There is also an indication of him entering into a stressful marriage which is loveless, and he takes sedatives to sleep.
In his adolescent stage, Montag falls in love which is just the same thing that happens to the highest percentage of people in the real world. He is also facing challenges in life and gets into despair as characterized in the novel. Montag is even confronted with a dilemma about losing his job and it the same time having a spirit to hate his job. As we can see, Montag as many characters while developing in the stages of life which is the same case that applies to us. There is an indication of behavioral changes of human nature based on time, place and situation.
In conclusion, Fahrenheit 451 is a novel by Ray Bradbury which progresses in three main parts which try to describe the stages of development of human beings form infants, adolescence into adulthood. In the novel, many characters are protagonist and antagonists Bradbury points out various characteristics of Montag which are strictly related to the human stages of life. Montag has multiple features which are just similar to the ones we have in daily life.
