 important freedom in 21st century

There is two crucial freedom of air still very viable in the 21st century characterized by heightened globalization. Right to fly over another country, airspace and land to deplane passangers coming from their own airline’s country (Baldwin, 2016). This freedom is fundamental in the 21st century as it allows free movement of people from one region to the other. The freedom is critical in the current age of international business by facilitating international business and interaction of people between the countries in multilateral or bilateral ties. The freedom of open skies facilitates business transactions and easy movement of people to help uplift the living standards of the country citizens. It helps open up opportunities for employment by facilitating the easy transfer of human resources. The freedom to land in any country and deplane the passengers helps strengthen the people to people interactions between the countries under the agreement to create a borderless market between the trading blocks and partners.

Another important freedom in 21st century is right to land in any of the countries for purposes of refueling and in case of technical hitches (Baldwin, 2016). Airlines carry many passengers belonging to different nations. The safety of people comes first regardless of their nationality. The airline industry has suffered from fatal accidents in the recent past, such as the one involving Malaysian airlines and the recent Ethiopian airways. It means that in the 21st century, the safety of airline passages comes first, and the airplane can develop technical problems while in air and at any point. The freedom to land at any point for refueling or in case of technical hitch has seen the airlines save many lives that could have perished (O’Connell & Williams, 2011).
