Nadi Astrology and Its Origin
‘Nadi’ in Tamil means ‘in search of.’ One of the most ancient forms of astrology that originated in Southern India- Nadi Astrology-believes that every human being is in search of his past and his future. Some of the great Indian sages and foreseers were believed to have been bestowed with supernatural powers that enabled them to see the past, present and the future of all the inhabitants on Earth. Their observations and predictions are believed to have been recorded in palm leaves and tree barks. The medium of communication is ancient Tamil, which can be deciphered only by practicing Nadi astrologers or other experts who have studied this branch of astrology. It must be mentioned here that Nadis are not easy to be deciphered since they are written in the form of sonnets and couplets.
It is widely believed that these palm scriptures were classified a thousand years ago during the Chola reign in South India. Nadi astrology is primarily practiced in the southern states of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and some other adjacent regions. Unlike conventional astrology that depends on the planetary positions of an inhabitant, Nadi astrology trusts the observations of sages Suka, Kushika, Brahma, and Agasthiya. The readers or the Nadis are named after the rishis and sages who originally recorded these findings.
Seeking the truth
It is believed that the palm leaves reveal itself to the native when the time is right. The Nadi astrologer himself has to do several prayers to keep his power of reading through the leaves intact. It is believed that if the astrologer fails to impress the gods and goddesses, the seeker will not be revealed to him despite having the palm leaves. How does online Nadi astrology work?
During an online Nadi reading session, the clear thumb impression of the seeker (right hand in case of a male and left hand in case of a female) is taken and studied. The thumb impression is classified into a system of loops and dots that are integral to each impression. Each thumb impression has been given a different name depending on the shape and size of the loops, some symbols and number of dots. The Nadi astrologer is aware of the various categories by looking at the characteristics of the thumb impression and he proceeds to pick the leaf bundle that may have the seeker’s leaf. The search is carried out until the name of the thumb impression matches with that of the leaf collection. It is noteworthy that each bundle comprises of 37 to 100 leaves. The palm leaves comprising the prediction of many people born at the same time may be found in those bundles. [1]
Once the leaf is found, the Nadi astrologer starts reading the leaves to the seeker and asks him various questions to which the latter has to conform or negate. The seeker will continue to read until the answers are positive. Even a single negative response would prompt the astrologer to switch to the next palm leaf. It must be mentioned here that the astrologer has no prior information about your name, your parents’ names, your siblings, spouses or your life history. In fact, the questions that would be asked to the seeker pertain to the small details of his life, which lead up to the predictions of the future and guidance to a fruitful life.
Types of Nadi
There are three types of Nadi (vein) defined in astrology. These three Nadis are Adi (beginning), Madhya (Middle) or the Antya (End). The 27 constellations have been divided according to these three constellations and each one of them are associated with one of them.
First group: The constellations associated with the Adi Nadi are Ashwani, Adra, Punarvasu, Uttaraphalguni, Hasta, Jyestha, Moola, Shatbhisha and PurvaBhadrapada.Natives born under these constellations should avoid wind-related environments and food.
Second group: The constellations associated with the Madhya nadi are Bharani, Mrigshira, Pushya, Purvaphalguni, Chitra, Anuradha, Purvashada, Uttara Bhadrapada and Dhanishtha. It is believed that natives born in the Madhya nadi have issues related to Pitta or bile
Third group: The constellations associated with the Antya nadi are Krittika, Rohini, Ashlesha, Magha, Swarti, Vishakha, Uttarashada, Shravan and Revati. It is believed that natives born in Antyanadi have problems related to Kapha (Cough).
The Nadi reading process is similar online too. The only difference being that the reader would ask the seeker questions over Skype, Facetime, Hangouts, or on a call.
After this we can include a section about different types of Nadi. I have written a little bit on the nadiastroservice home page
