Briefly, recycling is understood as a way of collecting and processing materials that would otherwise have been thrown and making them useful for producing new products. It is useful to both the environment and the community. Most of the governments in the world have taken it as a relevant responsibility to keep their economic development in motion. The United States of America tops among the countries that have laid a good foundation in recognizing the importance waste recycling to both citizen and the environment. By recycling does not only mean the domestic and industrial effluents but generally accounts for all what is worthy to be disposed of after the production of the intended product (Adams, 2013). Significantly, recycling cuts across all the fields of manual work and therefore it is necessary for the production progress. For instance, soda cans and food cans are some of the materials that are often discharged after use but recent research shows the United States of America discard over 2.7 million tons of aluminum each year out of which about 50% is recycled and reused (Lambert et al., 2016). Other than having the economic impact on the country, recycling of metals has an enormous impact on the environment. Additionally, US saves around 74% of the energy in recycling steel and tins (Adams, 2013). The purpose of this paper is to elucidate on the impacts accompanied by recycling and how the economy of the US has benefited through recycling its waste. In addition, the paper explains more on the merits and shortcomings of recycling to the environment and economy as a whole.

So start with, recycling has great advantages to the nations that perform the process efficiently. First, proper recycling reduces the amount of waste that is taken to the landfills and for the combustion process. This definitely means there is no air pollution which is by a large percentage, fuelled by combustion of the no degradable waste material. Secondly, recycling helps to conserve country’s natural resources such as timber, minerals, and water (Adams, 2013). Recently, the most expensive beautiful furniture is being made of a card board other products made of saw dust that forms the main waste in woodwork. Thirdly, recycling creates job opportunity by training employees to make efficiently use of the waste materials formed. This has led to a large number of recycling industries in the United States of America. Recycling, in addition, helps to sustain the environment for the upcoming generation and lastly, it reduces greenhouse gas effects that champion climate change (Zhang, 2015).

On the other hand, recycling industries will produce emissions of the recycled wastes that lead to the environmental pollution if not treated wisely. Secondly, recycling process is not cost-efficient. The recent data shows that fixing the landfills for dumping wastes will cost between 50%-60 per ton while recycling will cost beyond 150% , (Zhang, 2015).. This means that it is always expensive. Thirdly, recycling does not always guarantee good products. It is true that original products are definitely quality than the recycled ones. Yes, it may appear smart and working but they take short to serve or fail to meet the intended purpose. Recycling may call for separate factories and this means more storage charges, more energy consumption for transporting, storing and sorting the recycled materials. (Lambert et al., 2016). Apart from the government undergoing difficulties in managing costs, taxpayers are placed on the top line among the group that strains to meet the cost when it does not turn out well.

In conclusion, recycling is essential to both the economy and the environment of a nation. It is one of the major ways of creating work for the jobless and at the same time setting up a conducive environment for human livelihood. In addition, recycling is ways of boosting the economy of a country by having the ability to make money from products that other countries have ignored and discharged. Most importantly, recycling is crucial to the environment because is a way of showing countries visionary targets by recognizing its value to the future generation. All the industries should learn from its waste materials in order to be able to introduce a product worth working out of it.
