SONNY BLUES
The younger sibling to sonny blue became aware of his arrest about indulgence in drugs consumption and associated business. Sonny blues introduces its audience on a guideline of how one can read a newspaper about the individual he is well conversant within the setting. The identity of this fellow is not disclosed, but the content of the story attracts the attention of the reader and in his view quotes “swinging lights of the subway car, and in the faces and body of the people.” The character at this point does not want to come to terms with information he is receiving from the newspaper. The narrator consoles himself by imagining that the events in the story are untrue. While internally he is away about the truth that scares the narrator and at this point is when Sonny is introduced into the scene for the initiative.
The narrator was a scholar teaching algebra and was on his way to school while reading the story which stuck on his mind for the whole day as evident in the quote “great block of ice.” According to this incidence, it is clear that Sonny and the narrator are well acquainted with each other. He reflected when Sonny was his student who got indulge in drugs despite having great potential. He was disturbed and when he was through went to discuss with sonny’s friend. The friend of Sonny was able to share the rough life he was facing, and Sonny was in jail. The audience comes to learn that Sonny is a musician through a letter and met his brother after cleaning up from drugs. Sonny and his brother went home where they shared light moments with the family.
