Grinscan data
Grinscan data showed that the privacy project grin had completed the second hard fork update at the block height 524160 is successfully released today. Now the current revised height is changed to 524380.
The grin team requested their users to upgrade their nodes and wallets software to new version v.3.0.0 as soon as possible. As the previous version wallet will be closed soon and only wallet version v3.0.0 will be going to work with Grin running v3.0.0 or higher node is compatible.
Many new features are added with this update, such as TOR transaction, payment proof, optimization when multiple nodes are synchronized, and much more.
The PoW algorithm struggling with ASIC is upgraded to cuckaroom29, which is going to be the secondary algorithm of the Grin network. This is some major upgrade by the grinscan privacy project grin.
Last year in Grin’s first hard fork upgraded, the network increased the decentralization and the availability in the system.
As per several public statistics, the privacy project grin was launched on Jan 15 last year with the help of the PoW consensus mechanism, no founder awards, no pre-mining, and no ICO, which emphasizing complete fairness. The output is not going to decrease over time, and also there is no upper limit for the distribution with the production rate of 60 pieces are produced per minute.
Form the past as we know that Grin supports the mining algorithm, which is friendly for both general-purpose computing devices known as GPUs and also specialized hardware called ASICs. But this recent fork persuades against specialized machinery from being built for the GPU-friendly algorithm.
From the team of Grin core developer and software engineer, Quentin Le Sceller said: “it’s not the forking ASICs from the network but also ensuring that no one is going to build the AISC’s for the GPU friendly mining algorithm.”The beam will also be going to add the payment-channel functionality. Mining update meant to keep ASIC’S in check.
