C omparing two famous authors in the history of literature, Edgar Allan Poe and Ernest Hemingway

Literature works act as a wonderful world of the authors where phantasy is merged with their life experiences, thoughts and emotions to impact the readers in one way or the other. Clearly, human psyche can be shaped under the effects of certain events, relationships with different people and well-being. Psyche, on its own, significantly impacts the artists as their works typically reveal their inward world. To achieve these and other impacts on readers, authors use approaches which differ from one author to another; these differences appear naturally depending on the author’s personality, and in most of the cases, all the works of a certain author tend to stick into that approach. This paper compares the two famous authors in the history of literature, Edgar Allan Poe and Ernest Hemingway

For instance, Hemingway is seen to redefine the 20th century literature just the moment his pen touched the paper, and his impact has since then has nearly become the standard up to today. From his experience in Kansas City Star, he began using short sentences and short paragraphs, hence putting much emphasis on clarity, simplicity, and compression. Certainly, he has utilized those ideas since that day forth, he is even quoted later on saying, “Those were the best rules I ever learned for the business of writing. I’ve never forgotten them.” As depicted in his entire works, Hemingway majored on the Victorian style of 19th century and restyled to a clean, clear, and direct-to-the-point style which centered on actions more than emotions.

“Hard-boiled” is the term which can be used to define Hemingway’s style of writing, to imply a prose of writing which is “unfeeling, callous, coldhearted, cynical, rough, obdurate, unemotional and without sentiment.” however, the amazing thing about Hemingway is his ability to pack the indescribable power, emotions, originality, and even the excitement into a concise and action-driven style. Thus, as Hemingway only can articulate, it is pretty accurate to say that water in a glass is one-eighth full. He believes that adding the content apparently and giving the meaning what already exists would make the glass more appealing and strengthen its worth. As a result, the readers are in a position to comprehend Hemingway’s style as they navigate over his studies. Although the understanding can be completely bring different meanings from one reader to another, this is the principle which guided literature into the “ideal fashion” and enabled Ernest Hemingway become the Nobel Prize winner in Literature “ because of his mastery on the art of narrative, as it is demonstrated in his “Old Man and the Sea” narrative, and the influence he exerted on the contemporary prose.
