Ethical Hacking
Ethical hacking involves the act of identifying vulnerabilities and weaknesses of information systems and computer networks through duplication of the intentions and actions of criminal hackers. It involves conducting penetration and intrusion tests on an information system or network. The common type of ethical hacking is white hat hacking. Its conducted by an individual or a team who attempt to bypass security measures in an information system network to determine how criminal would break into the system (Maurushat, 2019). Companies employees white hat hackers and permit them to hack into their systems to identify potential securitypotential security risks. White hat hackers’ actions comply with an organization’s non-disclosure and privacy policies when probing information systems. Information regarding risk is passed to the organization for remedial action.
Benefits of hiring a white hat hacker
Hiring ethical workers will ensure an organization’s information system and networks are secure. White hat hackers help an organization identify security vulnerabilities that can be exploited by criminal hackers to compromise the firm’s systems. Early identification of security will ensure an organization implements advanced security measures to seal the gaps identified, making the information system more secure. It also helps an organization protect itself from financial losses associated with compromised information systems and stolen data by sealing all the loopholes that can be exploited by criminals (Allen, 2015). Hiring an ethical hacker to find a security vulnerability before its exploitation is more cost effective compared to fixing it after the system has been compromised. Hiring ethical hackers also protect an organization’s reputation; they help identify security gaps before their exploitation. Ethical hacking protects an organization’s confidential data, which in turn boosts the trust and d confidence oof an organization’s customers.
