The civil war which was in the year1861 and 1876 led to transformed economic, political and social nation’s landscape. The effect hit mostly on the New York due to casualties being in high number from New York; the state was faced with social and economic challenges as other states also experienced these challenges. The American civil war began as a contest of conventional of army verses army but by the end had become a society between versus society war, where slavery happened, and southern social order of foundation becoming a target.

The civil war time was a period of great social, political and social downfall in American history. As a result of the war, the whole economic structure of the southern was destroyed. The land of Georgia, Mississippi, Tennessee, South Carolina and Virginia was devastated, causing the south to remain behind in agricultural sector which had made the southern great. The north, which had a power of manufacturing capabilities, produced more weaponry 32 times and more cotton 17 times than the south. The economy of the south was hit greatly by the war. The south was no longer able to supply the cotton with the north; it was their main cash crop. It was very difficult exporting goods as a result of blocked naval which was imposed by the north (David 1996).

At the time of civil, the northern state experienced rapid industrialization. South suffered greatly as they were not able faced the oppressive tactics of Norths. Besides their declining industrial base, it was hard for southerners their resources being mobilized in an economy where they outlawed slave labor. The northerners who had efficient union troops and railway which carried their supply were in a situation of maintaining their economy which supported them on sea and land.

The country became divided as a result of the differences between the south and north, political status. The North was industrial and financial Center while the south had an economy of agriculture based on the slavery institution. As a result of the fear of the owner of the southern plantation that the Mighty North will bring to an end the slavery, leaders of political did what could ease conflict section. For that case, they implemented a law of Missouri Compromise of 1820, which allowed acceptance of Maine as a territory which was free and Missouri as a state of the slave. Regardless of that the attempts of the politician to maintain the balance between Free State and slavery became unproductive due to other cases, which include the Fugitive Slave Act, where the slave captured by the north was returned to the south.  The Confederacy came with the government that was identical to the United States but they their effort was in states right. The Confederacy had extraordinary issues completing anything states that didn’t concur with something just rejected take an interest. Made the government extremely feeble. States didn’t offer cash to the central government that was a requirement and a few states set up their special armed forces (William 2004). Social effect on civil war families was torn apart fathers were against sons, brother against their brother, mothers against their daughter, people become divided due to choosing different sides. Even after Emancipation proclamation of President Lincoln, slaves were still in southern states; the people did not follow it.
