Code of ethics policy analysis
The policy chosen
The Code of ethics policy outlines the ethical strategies that govern behaviour and decision in the organization (Zelmer, 2018). The policy describes how employees should behave, guidance for handling safety, harassment and conflicts of interest.
Target population
Code of ethics policy targets healthcare staffs on how employees should act to the patients. With the complexity of health care, evolving industry, high-risk, it’s not possible for any hospital to write enough policies to cover all situations in the hospital. Its therefore suitable to adopt a code of ethics policy which helps in determining behaviors, principles types and ethics employees should demonstrate in different situations (Berten & Leisering, 2016).
Social issue alleviated
The organizational culture can’t be written in a document but can be codified and put such words to the culture of respect, fairness, honesty, compliance and accountability that the organization aims to upgrade.
Creating culture accountability in healthcare begins with leadership and drops to the staffs at every level. The policy will help the organization to concentrate on shared purpose and make the staff members stay tuned concerning the expectations. Code of ethics policy makes communication within the healthcare clear, and everyone will be empowered to understand goals, mission and values needed from them. Healthcare is a sensitive area and requires communication to help everyone understand well what they are supposed to do to make the clients satisfied (Zelmer, 2018).
How the policy works
In the healthcare environment, keeping mission to care for patients and maintaining moral standards is paramount. The system will make employees and management to know how to handle patients. Most of the time, patients are kept to wait for too long even when in critical conditions (Berten & Leisering, 2016). The policy will help every staff within the healthcare to know about their roles and how to keep everything in hospital moving effectively. Employees will be exposed to the real-world situation to respond to, which will allow comprehension of the guidelines and rules that should be followed.
