Applying the Concepts of Conservatism and Liberalism
Conservatism and liberalism are two distinct approach views where supporters of either side view the world around them from different perspectives. As the terms describe, conservatives may be more reserved and may tend to adhere to the social structures governing moral conduct as well as the disposition a well-adjusted member of the society is expected to exhibit. On the other hand, liberalists are more extroverted and may be more open to trying out new ways of doing things different from social conventions. In direct comparison, liberals may be more secular and about living in the moment while conservatives, on the other hand, maybe more into social values i.e., family, security, and conformity.
The central theme in the article was centered on the differences between the different approaches that the conservatives and liberalists may take in solving some of the most pressing challenges that the country faces. The central issue addressed was the challenges that have been witnessed as a result of the immigration crisis from south of the border. It was observed that while conservativism may be open to ideas such as increasing border patrol, deportation among other approaches that will keep the immigrant on the other side of the border, liberalism, on the other hand, shared a different approach. There was the advocacy for a more inclusivity approach where social and communal integration was a solution that liberalists advocated for, citing that both parties had a lot to gain from the alliance between the two cultures. It is, therefore, possible to identify that liberalism had a better social wellness approach as compared to conservatism. However, it is also necessary to observe that for the implementation of the liberal attitude towards addressing the immigration crisis, there will be the need for more advanced application frameworks as compares to the conservatives approach.
