Roman vs Greek art
Roman and Greek art are grouped as classical art. There are similarities and differences between Roman and Greek art, usually viewed from the architectural and artistic perspective. One thing to note about the two techniques is that Roman architecture borrows a lot of aspects from Greek art. As such, it is difficult to identify the differences between the two arts. Therefore, one similarity is embedded in the idea that Roman art was born out of classical Greek art which incorporated idealism that is beauty, mathematical ratio and geometry. However, one similarity identified between Roman and Greek art is that both use white marble to create the statues. As such, the Greeks created gods and goddesses to stand for beauty while the Romans made sculptures that represented truth.
The differences include; Greek art was founded on the idea of naturalism while Roman art realism. Their approach to art differed significantly, with the Greeks more idealistic while the Romans more realistic. Therefore romans constructed and developed great public works which include roads high buildings and baths. The distinction between Roman and Greek arts is that the Romans excelled meticulously in architecture and as such capable of construction.
