different ways of annoying staff
If someone is working for more than forty hours a week, the probability that they are spending more time with co-workers than the family is high. Because of this, colleagues in the workplace can make the job bearable or break it. Supportive co-workers can make work enjoyable; at the same time, nagging staff can make life at work more dreadful. Considering that people spend more time at work, people are bound to be infuriated by their co-workers since they spend more time together. Therefore, unless one becomes exceptionally understanding, it is almost a guarantee that you will have irritating co-workers.
There are different types of annoying staff. However, I encountered know it all kind of staff. This individual knows almost all things are always ready to provide unsolicited advice on how to do your work well. However, when you encounter such people, it is still advisable to let if off. Ignoring such individuals will not give them a chance for them to get to you. However, when they provide unsought advice, acknowledge their input, and inform them that you will consider their opinion. However, if the individual is annoying, it is better to assume them since, after all, they are loathsome individuals. I feel this is the best way to deal with such people since, in any case, what brought you together is work. Hence you will not be with that person the whole of your life.
Know it all people are not the most comfortable people to deal with. In most cases, know it all are poor listeners. They are always thinking about what they will do next instead of paying attention to the issue at hand or what the speaker is saying. Hence the best communication approach is to listen to them actively, talk with discretion and face to face, provide constructive criticism, and build trust. This works best considering that most know it all have a preset mindset, yet their ideas might not be the best.
From the advice given by the author, handling a similar situation in the future will be much easier. First, with the knowledge that knows it all tend to speak more than they listen, it leaves people thinking that their ideas have not been accorded an appropriate hearing. Additionally, know it all can be a great impediment to creativity since they are always advancing their opinions and always wish to be heard. Hence the best way is to accommodate them as much as possible. This includes assuring them that their views have been considered even when they seem awkward. It is essential to be empathic with the co-worker. Their know it all attitude could be as a result of deeper personal problem. Additionally, dealing with know it can be grueling. Hence the best option in some cases is to ignore them as much as possible. Using words such as thank you for your suggestion or I will look into it, instead of taking a keen interest in their views and getting into a discussion with them. It is crucial to arm yourself with important facts about the topic at hand. For instance, if you have a presentation or an idea you want to pass across or you are going for a meeting, always stay confident with your ideas and facts. The more you understand the topic, the know-it-all will not have any chance to share or interject on you. It is also advisable to stick to laid down schedule or agenda and arm yourself with relevant statistics in written form. If you are better prepared, know-it-all will not have a chance to seize the discussion.
