About Niranjan Shah
Niranjan Shah is a founding partner of Globetrotters Engineering Corp and founder of Globetrotters International. Globetrotters is a significant architecture, facility management and engineering consultancy firm. Niranjan was born in India and raised through hardship, spending most of his life without essential resources such as running water and electricity. After high school, Niranjan Shah joined Birla Engineering College where he graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering degree. In 197, he moved to the United States and joined the University of Mississippi where he graduated with a master’s in Civil Engineering.
Working at Globetrotters
Niranjan Shah joined Globetrotters as a full-time employee in 1974. Since then, he managed to grow the company to more than 200 employees. He has also participated in research on behalf of federal agencies which have been published as academic journals. Some of the projects include:
- Development of the Coal Waste Embankments utilized by the United States Department f Mines.
- Composite Pavement Design and Design of Premium Pavements which were developed after substantial research was carried out.
- He developed marginal materials that were used in low roads.
Shah’s effort has transformed Globetrotters into one of the most established firms in Chicago. The company has managed to engage in local projects such as working in United States embassies and on Deep Tunnel Projects. Other key projects include the redevelopment of the Midway International Airport and expansion of McCormick Place.
Accomplishments
Shah is licensed across Kentucky, Indiana Wisconsin and Chicago. He is also well known for being a philanthropist giving made several donations to small villages in India and the United States. He has made this possible by donating through the Shah centre, Sister Cities International and Leading India’s Future Today. In 2006, Shah was among the delegates selected for the Ellis Island Medal of Honor. This is an award that is presented to leaders who have the mission of upholding the American spirit while sharing with the less fortunate. In the year he was also presented with the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award by the Indian government. Before that, he was appointed to the Goldwater Foundation by President Clinton due to his Excellence in Technical Education.
