Writing Experience
In my high school junior years, I have had a changing time to shape my writing as I progressed to my senior years. Writing is an important skill for variety of purposes, but specifically educational. It is hard for an individual to produce high quality work without proper writing skills. Approximately all my assignments required some writing except for a few where we presented orally. In my opinion, an excellent writing should be well structured and free from grammatical errors. Writing is a continuous process where individuals evolve through a series of processes including writing draft, proofreading, editing, and revision.
In my writing experience, organization of the content has been a huge hindrance to the quality of my paper. It has made me dread composition courses. The ultimate reason is that creating an outline to organize my thoughts to ensure that I do not vital points behind has been my main concern. Lack of an outline makes my essay shallow since it does not flow and that points have not been elaborated well. It has always been hard to bring out messages that I want the reader to realize because my papers are not organized.
Throughout my junior and senior years, I have written numerous essays using variety of techniques. Writing has always been my hobby but it turned out challenging in long-essay courses which are past five paragraphs. Long essays make it hard for me to supplement my ideas and main points with long explanations and examples. My writing has always been concise hence; adjusting to start writing longer papers is a complex process that I am trying to adapt.
Besides my numerous deformities in my writing process, the process of having multiple draft papers has assisted me to have a clear understanding of punctuation mistakes and grammar errors. The most valuable lessons that has improved my writing skills this semester is the ability to edit and revise my draft papers resulting to a perfect final submission. Actually, it worked out positively on me since the writing framework has helped me to deal with the challenge of organizing my work.
Over my writing journey, I have embarked on a journey to learn how to write papers with two-sided argument because they assist me in widen the scope of my research. At the moment, writing long papers is much more interesting than before since I have resorted to two-sided argument papers. The nature of writing in my senior years has ensured that the content areas of my papers are well structured. Such as a perfect introduction that not only aims at capturing the attention of the readers but also provides a brief overview of what the entire piece entails.
In summary, my transformation from being a general writer during my junior years to an elite writer in my senior years has made me acknowledge the fact that writing is a continuous process that requires learning. Demonstrating my writing accomplishments which are attributed to improving content structure using drafts and coping up with long papers portrays the learning strategies that I adopted to improve my writing skills. It is difficult to identify weaknesses and gaps in writing skills, but through drafts and proofreading an individual can have a transparent understanding of areas that require correction and improvement. In this context, I encourage students to utilized draft before submitting their original or final papers.
