Writing a poem
In writing a composition, the central focus is the theme, the tone and the impression that the poem has on the audience. In this regard, various variables need to be taken of in the process. Notably, everyone can write a composition, but not everyone can be able to write a well-structured poem.
Various steps are needed for one to write a good poem. The initial step is reading other poets’ poems and analysis their effectives and quality in regard to factors such as theme, rhyme, and plot among other things. Through this, you will be able to develop acquired skills from the other authors.
After learning from others, it comes to writing the poem. In this step, you need first to make some preparations to evaluate the nature of your poem. You should note the structure and composition of the poem. For instance, should the poem be rhymed or not among other things. The title of the poem is also important as it captures the attention of the reader and help in spreading the theme of the poem. In this case, you should know your goal asking yourself in detail on what you want to do in the poem.
After the preparation, we come down to the actual writing. One of the most important thing in this section is avoiding clichés. You should avoid using simile and phrases that are commonly used as this can reduce the effectiveness of the poem. Secondly, you should avoid sentimentality which is a blunt appeal to emotions of love or pity. All the emotion should be represented well in the plot of the poem to capture the thought of the audience who the poem is targeted.
