five persuasive strategies in some digital format
Your task is to find and evaluate five persuasive strategies in some digital format (online pictures, ads, commercials, speeches, etc.).
For each, do the following:
- Provide a copy of the message. A link is generally sufficient.
- Identify the persuasive goal. What is the sender trying to accomplish?
- Identify the major persuasive barrier the strategy was intended to overcome. If the goal is to sell something, explain why people are unlikely to buy (independent of the advertisement). If the goal is persuade people to donate, explain why they are unlikely to donate (independent of the message). In short, the message needs to overcome a barrier; identify and explain that barrier.[unique_solution]
- Identify a major persuasive strategy employed in the message. Using our list of strategies, explain which strategy (or strategies) dominate the message.
- Argue briefly whether the strategy was likely sufficient to overcome that barrier. Provide your rationale.
- Put everything together in a Word document, using 1″ margins, and 11-point Times New Roman, Arial, or Calibri fonts. Simply number your examples (one through five) and insert the image or video directly into your document. Provide your strategy name, barrier (and rationale), and argument as to its success directly below each example. Do not crowd examples. Complete a full example and then start the next example below it.
