Workplace Stress
Employees have suffered from health complications as a result of their experience at work. In most organizations, the subordinates, especially the full-times casual workers such as cleaners, have been found prone to stress because of their power and voices less heard. As a result, they tend to suffer from simple issues which they could easily express if there were a proper communication channel between them and their employees (Hamid, 7). Other employees suffer health complications as a result of poor working conditions. For instance, a toilet cleaner who is not provided with safer garments can suffer from diseases caused by bacteria such as cholera. Other issues like very strict bosses who do not listen to the workers can lead to distress. Repeated responses to the stressor may lead to the development of depression, which leaves prone to diseases such as high blood pressure (Hamid, 7).
There is a need to address the adverse effects of working conditions on the health of the employees. There are different ways in which a manager can ensure that the health of employees is protected. Firstly, the management should include all workers in making decisions that affect them directly, which will help in lowering the chances of stress to the employees because they will pass their opinion as well as communicating their problems to the managers. Additionally, this can cement the interaction between the manager and employees hence lowering effects as a result of fear (Hamid, 11). Secondly, there is a need to address every issue raised by the employees at the right time to ensure that the employees do not suffer either physically or psychologically. For instance, a matter of delayed salaries which affects the employee’s ability to cater for their daily needs. In conclusion, many of the problems in any business can be solved by increasing the interaction between the employees and management because all issues affecting the business and the employees will be communicated and addressed on time.
