The story is about moving to a new town.
When my dad broke the news that we were moving to a new town, I was both excited and sad at the same time. Excited because we were moving to a place I have never been to and sad because I was leaving behind my friends. I quickly got my laptop to search for my soon to be home! There were so many exciting places; restaurants, movie theatres, museums, parks, old churches, and so many more.
The night before our moving day, I could not sleep a wink. I had spent the evening with my friends to say our goodbyes. The morning was finally here! I got up earlier than usual, but on getting to the breakfast table, I realized I was the last person to wake up. My parents and my elder brother were already making breakfast. I was not the only one excited about this move, after all!
We got into my dad’s old station wagon, and our journey to the unknown began. The drive to our new home was uneventful. Apart from everyone lost in their thoughts, everything went on well. After being on the road for about two hours, I finally realized we were close to our destination. Many road signs were indicating most of the places I had seen in my google search about the town.
An announcement came from my mom that we were just a few minutes away from our new home. I was filled with so much joy. My sister was too. She had taken out her earphones, which she had kept throughout the journey. She was not so pleased about the news since she was leaving behind her love – a boy she had fallen head over heels. They went to their history class together. Seeing her excitement, I was relieved. At least I was not going to suffer her ‘wrath’ because of her disappointment. See, my sister and I are siblings, but we do not get along very well. She complains that I am too loud and extremely clumsy around the house.
My dad turned the car into the driveway of a house that was a sight to behold! For a moment, I was not sure if that was our house. It was huge and magnificent, unlike the one we had to move out of. The lawns were well-manicured, and trees beautifully pruned. More awaited us. We got into the parking, and it was a race for all of us to get into the door.
My parents took us on a tour of the house. Mom asked us to choose our bedrooms. Of course, there was a fight on who will take the bigger room. I quickly resolved to be the gentleman and agreed to settle on the smaller one. My sister was thrilled. I think by now the boyfriend was already forgotten!
We settled in, and after unpacking, mom decided that being our first day in a new place called for a little celebration. We freshened up fast and went out for dinner at a local restaurant, which was a few blocks away from our house. Driving through the street, I realized this was no ordinary neighborhood; it was serene and oozed opulence.
I could not believe there were such beautiful places in the world!
