Many stores in Canada are focusing on environmental sustainability concerns; the Starbucks store is also playing a significant role in making a fleet of greener stores. This paper will focus on my experience and observation after reviewing the credit categories that I observed, which are relay contributing to ensure eco-friendly footprints.
I will discuss the four LEED credit categories that I observed at the Starbuck stores in Mississauga and Brampton. Every store or construction should be done with a lot of consideration and focus on making improvements to the environment. The Starbuck company has been playing an essential role in ensuring sustainability in the environment. Every store is fitted with a better eco-friendly construction design to improve the workers and the customers’ environment. In Mississauga NAD Brampton coffees store, I was able to identify the following for LEED credits, which have already been implemented by the company in its efforts to get eco-friendly.
SS-SUSTAINABLE SITES
THE Starbucks is also showing commitments of ensuring that the damaged sites are rehabilitated and development developments aimed at improving the building to have low pressure on the environment. The places I visited were developed based on the Canadian federal government agency. They were done to reduce and eliminate pollution and contaminants(Rogers, 2019). LT
LT-this is location and transport category it is associated with rewarding thoughtful decision son the location of the building. Like for instance, the Starbuck stores in Mississauga and Brampton in Canada are built in the specific situation that ensures we have compacted development, an alternative to transportation and also we have many amenities that are connected with the store such as restaurants and entertainment (Rogers, 2019).
EQ
EQ-the stores are built-in a better manner such that they are capable of ensuring that here is high indoor environmental quality, I discovered that currently, this company provides there is an enhancement of productivity resulting from the better building value that ensures thermal, acoustic and visual comfort is taken care of. The building has increased air delivery monitoring, increased ventilation; there is an average distances that Environmental tobacco control. The store was built using low emitting materials, we have a better lighting system, and the design is better showing thermal comfort. To ensure there is better environmental conservation, the company also has indoor chemical and pollutant source control. The indoor is having a space that shows daylight views this is the horizontal view where eyes can access, all these EQ Leed qualities make the store better working environments, thus contributing to sustainability and high productivity(Martin ,2019)..
MR
MR-Used in order to ensure that the construction is done with the intention of whenever the building will need to be reconstructed the material should be directly recycled and recovered; they will be therefore taken to the manufacturing company and get reusable again in any site. Starbucks this with consideration of the recycled salvaged most of the packaging like cartons, drums, and pails have been recovered since they contribute to diverted construction debris. Uses of rapidly renewable material and recycled content(Martin ,2019).
Generally, it is interesting to note that this company is applying the same concepts that are used by its competitors towards making a better store that is very competitive in the market. Focusing on environmental protection and building construction that focuses on eco-friendly enhanced the coffee culture of the start but going green. Since opportunities have presented themselves to make the company be a leader to the society .The company has inspired and empower the community I taking action get informed and actively engage in sustainability practices in the community.
