The Introduction to the Prince

The book provides the story of Salina Prince Fabrizio, whose origin is Sicily based nobleman. The revolution and civil war mark the reign of Fabrizio, and as a result of the high born noblemen and loving money peasants, rebellion deforms the structure of rule and class. The essay depicts that the Prince is limited to choosing between the traditional ties of his nephew and maintaining the structure of the upper level. This paper presents significant themes of the novel shown by struggling mortality over decay, eternity and abstraction, and resilience and continuity to change by the people.

The struggle of decay over mortality starts with the Prince recitation of the rosary in a room decorated with drawings. The Prince decides to move about the land where he recognizes an increased number of sick patients, smells lush foliage, which resurfaces memories of wounded soldiers. In the literature, the Prince recalls a soldier from Neapoli who had fatal injuries crawling towards the grove, where he met his death (Gale, 2016). From my point of view, the Prince notes the increased suffering of people in the region. Numerous cases of fatalities arising from battles are recorded, and it makes the Prince to rethink on why conflicts are so messy. In Italy, chaos attracted the attention of other countries. Politically, ideas of running the state were reviewed to minimize inflicting harm to ordinary citizens. Battles and rivalry are measures that only results in destruction of peace. It was time for the Italian government to implement ideas of the great author Giuseppe, also known as the leopard. From the prince perspective, he knows that he needs to protect the interests of family amid the growing opposition for change from the people.

Fabrizio at one points, sits and looks at his nephew, prince Tancredi, and only sees a young ruler who is not determined enough to make responsible actions but who moves with pressure escalation from the locals (Gale, 2016). From my point of view, the Prince is a wise man who takes his time not to be influenced by rush needs. At one point in the essay, the Prince seeks pleasure from Bendico (the dog), who is seen mostly engaged in digging up the garden. Fabrizio weighs both demands and decides to buy time to come up with a solid answer. In today’s world, people, governments have fallen prey to making wrong decisions. Judged by the need to satisfy only their interest, they have forgotten the long term repercussions of choices they make. Therefore, they have become victims of destructive events. Just like the Prince, who confided in Bendico to get the support of clearing his mind, it is therefore essential for people and governments to find allies to lean on when faced with devastating events. To find solutions to a problem, brainstorming becomes the most critical factor to consider. Thinking generates more ideas which are selectively able to adopt in dealing with situations, weak strategies are filtered out, and only the reliable solutions are implemented.

Eternity and abstraction start with the ideal conceptualization of the Prince. First, through the Prince’s love for mathematics, stars, and other calculations, the essay notes that it makes him boastful and a proud man. Fabrizio formulates ideas of how his rule will be successful. The Prince visualizes the future to see where the royal family will be placed. A hint that the people will destroy the last traditional aspect of rule crisscrosses his mind (Turner & Derek, 2020). Besides, Prince’s marital life provides an heir that he (Fabrizio) only sees. The author broadly details much about the Prince’s character. The essay notes, Fabrizio is a womanizer who is discontented with his sex life. To validate the statement, the Prince when having dinner, remarks, “the Princess has seven children with him but always crosses herself when making love.” Besides, Fabrizio visits the brothels to try to get sexual gratification. The Prince is disgusted by these events and goes ahead to realize that his nephew has ganged up with the rebels who, according to Fabrizio, are only there to see the downfall of the family. From my point of view, guilt clouds the Prince’s mind and unsettled as he sees unworthiness and not deserving. Already, Fabrizio is judging himself, and it is only after the visitation to the church where he gets to be mentally free. Guilt culminates and consumes individuals to self-destruction. In society today, those guilty of murder, theft, perpetrating warfare, incitements, violence, and abuse are lawfully held responsible for their actions. The author shows that failure to retrieve therapeutic support from specialists may lead to consumption by vices of the world.

Furthermore, resilience and continuity to change pictures of the state of events at Sicily. In the essay, the union of the redshirt Garibaldi’s remarks,” change will be good for the people’ disgust the Prince (Turner & Derek, 2020). The Sicilians wanted a conducive environment for growth and were tired of witnessing humiliations coupled with massive deaths and poor states of living. From my point of view, what compels people to riot, rebel, and to form opposition groups is the disruption of peace. No human in the world loves to be a witness to devastating events. People team up to air their grievances until solutions to problems start to be implemented. It is the mandate of governments to ensure peaceful co-existence through the provision of security and law enforcement acts. In the modern world today, wars, terrorisms, anything that disrupts peace is strongly condemned by peacekeeping bodies and religious institutions.

In conclusion, every action that we chose to do comes later with a price. In the introduction of the Prince, the author, through his characters, details so much about the royal family and the agony of the people. In the novel, for example, the nephew takes the active decision making roles, a factor that makes the Prince to change his perception about the future leader. From my point of view, abstract ideas can sometimes make us judge falsely. Our projection of events can, at times, victimize us into false beliefs. However, the Prince was an Ideological character in the novel, and it is, therefore, essential to always consider relying on factual events rather than mere speculations. Creating a room for error provides the readiness to accept change. It was important that the Prince readily changed his perceptions to avoid bias. From the essay, it is also essential to understand the role of guilt in shaping human behavior. Feelings of guilt generate anxiety, instability, greed, suicidal tendencies, and other vices that poison our lives. The Prince, for example, was consumed with the idea of maintaining, a factor that engulfed jealousy in him.
