OTEC (ocean thermal energy conversion) Overview Ocean thermal energy conversion is a process for productive energy by thermal gradients between ocean external water and deep water ocean. It is preferred to use the ocean surface water as much warmer than deep water. These differentiate of temperature (of at least 77* Fahrenheit) can be used to power a turbine to productive energy. The united states involved in OTEC project or research in 1974 .so, it set up natural energy laboratory of Hawaii authority. This laboratory produces a 250 kw of OPEC plant for six years in 1990s. This facility develops in 2015 and supplies in electricity network or grid. Technology is used in this project.[unique_solution] As, this idea of projects is very affective on production of renewable energy so many countries such as Australia ADVANTAGES Renewable energy -It is Renewable energy as it is very clean resource as this natural energy is from ocean and do not removing or disappearing in addition to it produces electricity from water vaporization or it gets converted from turbine to condenser with condemned water vapor as shown in figure It can support several spin-off industries in cooled water that is used in pumping out of the plant and temperate crops. In addition, it can be used in air conditioning as it can have produced from thermal energy from Colling water after converting it to electricity Then, condition it with water vapor OTEC can be used in industrial cooling produce fresh and cold water for agricultural and cooling purposes. Also, it assists in reducing the dependence on fossil fuels to produce electricity Disadvantages -It has high cost as it required several of equipment and workers as it need lots of money to hold this project in our life.so, it causes starving, and it is also impractical as the rate of vaporization of the ocean isn’t very high so it don’t produce much energy therefore it has low efficiency.
