In “The Performance Management Evaluation,” by Cappelli and Tavis, Performance evaluation in any organization is crucial to determine the future growth of employees. The assessment aids in guiding employees for effective performance. In many organizations, performance appraisal identifies the strengths and weaknesses of employees and helps the management in gauging them. Leaders and managers use the tool to run businesses and other enterprises (Cappeli & Tavis, 2016). The tool is essential to both the workers and the employer as it makes providing feedback simple as well as singling out quality production and noting down future expected jobs. Therefore, assessing performance from the employee and employer is critical to the achievement of goals of any organization.
According to the authors of the article, self-evaluations are critical to giving employees opportunities to have a self-report of work done to present to the employer. The employer has the chance to reflect on their performance and skills and their contribution to organizational performance. Besides, employers note their strengths and weaknesses and areas to improve for the betterment of the organization. Notably, the management performance influences the workforce of the workers as the leaders are expected to act as an example (Cappeli & Tavis, 2016). Also, the tool allows workers to discuss personal views and thoughts on improving their weaknesses to the advantage of the organization with the employer. The author further indicates that evaluations are carried out to monitor performance within your job description to promote the development and achievement of personal goals. Employers are responsible for holding employees accountable for their actions during the assessment process. In case employees are not working to the expected levels, they are dealt with immediately to improve performance. Thus, when evaluations are carried out regularly, performance in the organization is guaranteed, and hard work culture promoted.
Performance evaluation is crucial to run any organization either in the business or health sectors. In my organization as health care administer, I carry out several activities in the management of employees to deliver quality health services to people. Management of employees involves teamwork and cooperation between employees and employers to promote a sustainable environment and improve performance. The tool allows the administration to gauge workers’ skills and expertise while building communication and relationship skills in the organization. The interpersonal relationship between the administrator and the employees is promoted, which aids in goals review.
Also, the assessment helps in understanding the employees’ weaknesses and come up with several ways to support overcome the challenges. All the barriers in the achievement of the organizational goals are eliminated for efficient service delivery. The outcome of the evaluation determines whether the employees will be fired, retained, or promoted, thus increasing productivity in the firm. As an administrator, I will come up with new staffing patterns to encourage employees to work hard and promote integrity in the organization.
Self-evaluation of the employees helps avoid negligence by the management to carry out appraisals. The organization forgetting to carry out performance evaluation will result in poor service delivery to people. The management should implement the tool to positively impact the lives of people in society to maintain its stability in providing services. Besides, the assessment aids in the achievement of organizational goals, missions, and objectives.
