Public Health and Emergency Management
Reading One
I agree that the Public Health and Emergency Management is driven by the potential impact on health by natural disasters, conflicts, and disease outbreaks. The coronavirus is indeed fatal, and actions to test, quarantine, isolate, assess, treat, and educate people on the disease are mandatory. Also, such emergencies require funding, and thus the congress also comes in handy to support the PHEM. It is also correct to state that financial constraints are a challenge to integrating PHEM in the global health context. I am impressed that you have noted that most countries with inadequate resources suffer greatly and have been overwhelmed in their public health sectors after being hit by chronic diseases such as Ebola. I, therefore, agree with you that PHEM is vital in the global community, and despite the many challenges it faces, efforts should be made to ensure that it benefits all who depend on it.
Reading Two.
I love that you have mentioned how the article stressed that the use of different tools and strategies could ensure that attention is given to the Public Health Emergency Management. Additionally, the same tools, procedures, resources and practices are there to protect populations all over the world. Nonetheless, I am happy with the fact that you have appreciated the role of the PHEM in dealing with human-made and natural problems. I feel that it is also correct to say that, the PHEM also faces challenges such as the unequal set of health standards across the globe thus making the emergency management response are not to be uniform globally. Finally, I love the way you have challenged medical professionals and emergency management personnel all over the world. They should engage in sharing better practices amongst themselves, and in having more open communication; so that they can better deal with any health issue or crisis in any part of the world.
