Week 6 Report
During this week, I learned several lessons regarding sales. Selling at the smoke shop was very uncomfortable in the beginning. However, I started getting the hang of it, and I have learned valuable lessons during this week. To begin with, I have learned how to talk to people. The smoke shop receives consumers from people from different walks of life. While becoming comfortable with a conversation involving new people is very difficult, I managed to get over this fear and get comfortable with every individual who purchased our products. I believe that networking is a valuable asset while working a sales job because it increases customer service, boosts their loyalty, and increases sales. I also developed a thick skin because I met different customers, including those who were having bad days, just rude or rejected deals.
Throughout the week, the manager and supervisor taught us various tips on making sales. They encouraged my workmates and me to develop a persuasive art, where we could help people to purchase our products without being annoying. It was vital to listen to customers more than I talked because I wanted to hear them, understand their needs, and find a solution. My manager commended and awarded me for my listening skills, which gave me more motivation to making more sales and looking forward to every working day. Responding to customers with care regardless of their gender, color, or age built more trust and made them comfortable doing business with me. I learned that working hard in sales increases the smoke shop’s reputation, sales, and revenue. During this week, I discovered that interacting with customers more and in a friendly manner encourages not only their purchase of products but also creates a pleasant and encouraging working environment.
