 A democracy, according to Abraham Lincoln, is “a government of the people, by the people and for the people.” Ideally, Democratia is supposed to be a democratic government that does what the people want. However, the fact that their president is unpopular and that influential people run the country with their interests in mind means that practically, Democratia is no democracy. Hence, opportunistic individuals will implement what is right for them and not for the country, Democratia. On the other hand, Autocratia is a non-democracy, meaning it could have a monarchy, a dictatorship, or even theocracy and even a military rule government. The rationale is the people of Autocratia do not decide on ruling their country. They follow their leaders. The border territory in contention between these two countries could start a war. Hence, the subject of this paper is to analyses any war prospects between these two countries that have different political ideologies.

The first prospect that could lead to war is due to people’s participation. Autocratia does not need its people to participate but only to follow. Contrastingly, Democratia’s citizens need to be heard. Therefore, when, for instance, these two countries meet and since selfish people run Democratia, they could decide to sell the rights of the territory to Autocratia. By doing this, Democratia would have ignored what its people at the border territory might want. For example, this land could be beneficial to Democratia’s citizens, but since their government does not listen to them, they might start a war. Democratia’s citizens might attack Autocratia’s citizens at that territory because, according to them, the government does not listen, yet it purports to a democracy. Autocratia citizens will fight back because, to them, their government acquired that land in an honorable way, thinking that it was a country decision and not a few people’s decisions. The vice versa could also occur.

In addition to people’s participation, another prospect of war could be Democratia could try to show its political might over Autocratia and vice versa. Many states around the world would want to be powerful and have control of territorial land that is fruitful. Therefore, these states could wage war against one another. The resulting winner gets rights over the area in contention. According to the United Nations, “All Members shall refrain in their international relations from the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any state, or any other manner inconsistent with the Purposes of the United Nations.” In as much as this law exists and every state privy to the United Nations charter should abide by it, some states do not care. If they want power over the territory, they will do everything in their power to do so. Hence, cause a war with a country they believe differs from the ideologically.

In conclusion, people’s participation and expression of might are just a few prospects. Others include economic gain. A country could discover that the land in contention is rich in minerals, so they want to gain from that. Similarly, the country they want to wage war gains could have done them some wrong; hence the war as a form of revenge. Democratia and Autocratia are very different countries, and due to this, war is possible.
