Propaganda

The management of organized ideas and behaviors of the masses is a critical aspect in democracy. Notably, this element is not visualized in the society. The managers under this manipulation make up the invisible government which provides the power to rule the country. They are referred to as invisible governors. Through this structure, citizens are governed, their minds molded, ideas speculated and tastes formed. The invisible governors comprehend the mental processes and the social patterns of the public. They come up with strategies that control the public mind through harnessing old social forces and contriving new methods of unifying and guiding the world. It is essential to note that these ideas are emphasized through propaganda. However, it would have been better if a group of wise men dictated the citizens’ behavior and decided the best leaders instead of propaganda. ‘But we have chosen the opposite method, that of open competition” ( (Bernays 12). With the modern forms of communication, ideas of propaganda can be shared widely across a vast number of people. Thus, making the work of invisible governors easy.

Railroads and human nature

Many people have become suspicious of the railway business because of how it conducts its operations, particularly a building with no windows. These speculations have resulted in the implementation of regulations and laws governing the railroads. These ideas made result from the rail road’s men fail to recognize that they were humans and not the machines they control. Therefore, Americans have concluded that there are three misconducts in the railway business, namely; ‘First, there is a vast number of watered stock on which dividends are being paid. Second, the railroad business is ruled by bankers who absorb huge profits and lastly, the railroads exercise undue power over the welfare of the people (Lee 11).’
