Corruption
Corruption is described as a form of criminal offense or dishonesty that neither a person nor an organization has been entrusted with the authority.Corruption could involve activities like bribery and even embezzlement (Lewis, 2017).Corruption has been constant in society. It has been a phenomenon that has been seriously explored in the last 20 years. Legal provisions have to be created to showhow those guilty of corruption should be punished.
Improving Governance is the first solution to corruption. The recent scandals that have existed in the state suggest that corruption is systematic.Corruption also encompasses a complicatednetwork of methods as well as other mechanisms on a large scale. Devices that play the role ofdivertingfunds have turned out to become more sophisticated, and governance and the control systems of the region have not been developed to face new challenges(Lewis, 2017). Petty corruption has also been witnessed in the state even though it has no direct impact on citizens.
Citizens should also be empowered. The citizens of the nation are responsible for how they are ruled. They have to be outspoken, and they have to correct their leaders when they go wrong since they choose the leaders they want in office. The citizens should be strengthened to demand for anti-corruption(Peters, 2018).They should also be empowered to hold the government accountable in case their way of ruling goes wrong. They have to come up with a sustainable approach that helps in building mutual trust between the citizens and the government. For instance, they can come up with community monitoring initiatives to assist in detecting corruption, reduce leakages of funds, and even improve the quality as well as quantity of public services.. Transparency and accountability have to be part of governance. Legal provisions have to be created to showhow those guilty of corruption should be punished. A precise theory of change links accountability and data. Power imbalances, as well as cultural constraints, have to be looked at when designing the state policy (Peters, 2018). Accountability and transparency can also be created by monitoring the finances and how they are managed. Data has to be prioritized to encourage politicians and other people holding state offices to be accountable.
