A vision of Crime in the Future
The best title for this TED is technology and crimes. This title suits the TED because the speaker is talking about terrorist acts and how technology is being used to commit crimes. Several criminal attacks are addressed by the speaker and, most importantly, what the future might turn up to be with the use of technology by the criminals. The TED goes for nineteen minutes and ten seconds.
The speaker is known as Marc Goodman, who has been working to prevent the act of terrorism and other future crimes. This is a well-known TED speaker that can imagine future crimes and terrorist attacks that might occur with the use of technology. Goodman is the CEO of the future crime institute, which conducts investigations on the security issues and the technology risks which are likely to impact on the surety systems. He is also a security advisor who gives people and organizations advice on matters related to security. He has another job at the University of Singularity, where he is the chairperson for policy and laws.
Several factors make this speaker to qualify for this topic. One of the reasons is that he studies future crimes and terrorism. This implies that his work is to research how the criminals are likely to use technology to conduct crimes in the future. Another reason is that he had work in law enforcement as a street police officer and an undercover investigator. This implies that he has more knowledge on matters related to security because of the experience in his career. Most importantly is that he has seen more violence since he has traveled to more than seventy countries during his career. Lastly, the speaker has worked with criminals and terrorists, which means that he knows a lot of secrets and how they conduct their criminal activities.
The main argument of the talk is to show how criminals and terrorists can use technology. The speaker is trying to use his experience throughout his career to educate people on what is likely to happen to them in the future. Technology is vital because it has both advantages and disadvantages, but terrorists are going a step further with the help of technology. With this talk, people can know some of the new skills that are likely to be used by terrorists. In other words, this talk is like an eye-opener to the public so that they may be prepared. Most importantly, the government and other security organizations can learn the plans of their enemies and be able to prepare using advanced technologies.
There are two vital ideas that I have learned from this TED. One of them is how the terrorists can monitor their progress using the internet. This means that they have developed their platforms where they monitor all the activities using the internet. In other words, they can predict an attack from the military and other law enforcement organizations. Another interesting thing about them is that they monitor international media channels such as the BBC, CNN, and Aljazeera, among others. The second thing that I have learned is how technology can be used for future crimes. One of the things mentioned in the talk is robotics, where robots will be used to conduct crimes and monitor other criminal operations. Other weapons that are mentioned by the speaker are the use of drawn aircraft, 3D printing, and the internet of things, among other things. At the end of that talk, the speaker left the audience with one of the primary solutions, which is not the police nor other law enforcement organizations but the people themselves.
