VIOM 112 WK 7 Portfolio

Database-driven technology is considered to be the most potent alternative to the ancient, static HTML-based technology because of the way they allow content management. The technology allows online data storage and allows individual site admin to login using a web-based interface whenever they want to manage their stored data, whether they have programming knowledge or not. The technology also allows effective sharing of information among various stakeholders of an organization. This depicts the reason for the increased use of database-driven technology by many organizations. Therefore it is of the essence to identify how organizations can use this technology, describe the necessary knowledge and skills employees require in using the technology, and explain how the technology can improve productivity.

According to Watt (2014), organizations can use databases in managing their customer relationships using customer relationship management, CRM database. The database systematizes all the company’s information, including accounts, leads, opportunities, and contacts. Organizations can also use databases to manage employee information regarding payroll and scheduling using payment and schedule database.

Databases can also be used to perform business data analysis, including inventory tracking and in the management of promotions and marketing. Besides, they can be used to improve productivity in the workplace (Watt, 2014). Databases incorporate online data management techniques aiding employees in a workplace to stay synchronized and up to speed, thus increasing their efficiency. Consequently, productivity is increased. However, this requires employees to have specific knowledge and skills to help them to effectively use the technology (Oussous, Benjelloun, Lahcen & Belfkih, 2018).  This includes typing skills with accuracy, basic software knowledge, high concentration levels, typing skills, and excellent writing and communication skills..
