Letter to Tim Walz
Global warming has become a problematic issue in all parts of the world. Various countries are trying to set up rules and regulations to reduce the carbon emission from different sources to minimize the adverse effects felt from global warming. In the state of Minnesota, transportation accounts for the most significant percentage of climate change from the pollution they bring to the environment through tailpipe emissions (Orenstein, 2019). However, considering the transport sector and the ownership of cars, the proposed idea by Tim Walz would not in a more significant impact resolve the pollution issue. Though the approach and the design are right to have a substantial influence, a more dynamic approach is required by highlighting the human aspects of pollution. Since social activities account for almost the cause of all the pollution and thus by changing and restricting human activities, climate change in Minnesota would considerably become better.
As Tim Walz laws wish to enforce and make consumers buy electric cars seems like an excellent move to alter the percentage of emissions, it raises concerns on the applicability of the law. The transport market, as it arguably requires no change, and while he argues that the customers fail to buy these cars due to lack of option, the manufacturers refute this by saying they provide what the customer’s request (Orenstein, 2019). Also, the proposed law is a controversial one since it brings conflicting ideologies and policies to that of the Federal government, with Trump administration seeking to reverse the California authority on limits for the tailpipe. Similarly, the Minnesota electric car usage is close to the National average, and thus the law would not have significant results on environmental pollution.
However, Tim Walz would significantly and considerably change the climate change and the adverse conditions witnessed in the state by limiting the extensive human activities on agricultural activities, which primarily uses chemicals and also the industrial and home wastes. The smoking prevalence among the population also causes environmental changes with the vast home heating sources. Similarly, instead of Walz trying to direct a particular market into a specific direction, He should try to integrate and coordinate with the National government on the possible laws to implement. To avert the full range of negative impacts on fauna and flora in Minnesota, causing many health issues.
Consequently, Tim Walz needs to have considerable knowledge of the economic conditions and the laws of the land to avoid conflict with the administration policies. The heavy usage of chemicals in homes and industrial activities should become the concerns of the lawmakers in the state if they need to change the situation. Conversely, instead of being concerned with the market use of cars, much attention is required on how to prevent plants and water sources from dying since, through them, humans only thrive. Due to the pollutions, many plants and water bodies are dying slowly, affecting the human through the availability of food and clean water, leading to adverse health issues.
