 Technology in our homes in this paper refers to the entertainment devices that the children access at home or at school. They include the internet and video games in computers. While possessing technology devices, it is essential to watch your toddler? Do you allow your toddler to access devices in your absence? As a parent, do you believe that technology devices can harm your children? Monitoring toddlers and technology is vital to me since it makes the children to be dull outside the house and the harm to their morals after accessing sexual and violent contents. For a number of reasons I believe parents should watch the use of technology by their children.

Technology decreases the urge of kids to play outside the house. The lack of drive to go outside makes the children develop obesity and other health problems. The children lack time to go and play and interact with their peers, which causes them to be antisocial (Common Sense Media, 2013). The children usually don’t concentrate because most of the time, they are always on their phones, computers and TV screens.  Under the influence of the fast-developing technologies, children tend to lack the capacity to tackle conflicts since they are always living a private life out of people. Technology has affected the children. The children cannot initiate conversations even with their parents.

Educational activities require technology; however, it has become the enemy to the children. My observation discovered that obesity in many children currently develops out many sitting hours with eyes glued to the screens (Thompson, 49-60). Obesity is health which should get the parents worried. Now, parents use technology to engage the children, and the habits of childhood do project to adulthood. As the children gain competent experience in technology, they are facing health complications due to a lack of physical activities. Parents have lacked control over the kids on what to use and when to apply the knowledge gained.

Worse enough, parents have used technology to keep the children busy while they are out either shopping, working, or driving. Research has it that children should spend no more than two hours watching or playing video games. Kids between the age of eight and ten tend to spend more than five hours on the screens. Currently, 7% of children above eight years have been diagnosed with learning disorders and ADHD; however, it is not known if it is the effect of technology (Hwang, e16). ADHD rising cases are as a result of too much loyalty to technology combined with the mainstream media. Besides, watching leads to attention problems. Children who attend a lot concentrate less in class compared to their compatriots who spend most of their time playing in the field.

Generally, children should study interaction techniques in society, which enables them to build a healthy relationship with their peers, parents and siblings. Even though parents need breaks from the kids and TVs and videogames harm children’s social life. Technology is readily available, but it cannot replace the emotional and social relationships between parents and their children. Despite the harmful effects of overusing technology in children and difficulty in avoiding technology, parents can teach their children self-control in exploring the electronics. Through nurturing ethical values in children, our children will avoid obesity, growth, and studying problems.
