Background information

Climate change is turning out to be a hot subject of discussion as it influences the world balance. For instance, around 10-15 years ago, China experienced the greatest automobile boom; they sold millions of SUVs and cars without recognizing the amount of carbon emission it will release to the environment. These actions lead to the release of gases to the ozone layer resulting in global temperature change; when the earth’s temperature rises, it becomes warmer and causes a chain of reactions to different parts of the world, notably Antarctica and Arctic. The warmer temperatures later shatter, and glaciers are melts, thus causing the sea level to rise; this, after that, results in the sinking of islands that are below the sea level to disappear. Wilson, the Maldives, a famous tourist destination, is the victim of climate change. “There used to exist an island known as Hulhumale. Currently, it is nothing but sandy reefs due to the rise of the water level hence sinking the island” (Wilson 2017). This is just a single example of the effects of climate change to show that it can wash the whole country in this millennium. As a global member, it is our responsibility to equip ourselves with knowledge about the devastating impacts climate change can cause to our globe for the sake of tomorrow. We do not wish that our future generation held responsible for our ignorance and mistakes we are currently conducting.

Possible Solutions to Climate Change

The United States is the largest importer of goods while China is among the biggest exporters in the world; a solution could be that our government ensures pressure on manufacturing nations that heavily pollute the environment. The government should enforce rules that threaten the importation of products unless the process of manufacturing is environmentally friendly.

The government could also enforce strict regulations to companies so that they can comply with environmentally friendly procedures; this will reduce and control the percentage of emitted carbon in the atmosphere. It is also vital for the government to encourage companies to move from Coal power as a source of energy to other environmentally friendly techniques that our globe contains inadequate such as natural gas, sun, air, and water.

Every year that passes by, the government insists the manufacturers lower the amount of carbon emission that vehicles produce, and if you have realized the manufacturers are replacing the V8 gas-guzzling engines with quite smaller V6 cylinder engines to lower rate of pollution..

Another vital solution comprises of all of us; we should take more responsibilities back in our homes by utilizing less energy. Since the solar panel reduces price, every New Year individual should use it to ensure less energy consumption. Every family should take responsibility to teach their kids how to reduce wastage by recycling and its advantages. We also need to educate our kids concerning global warming, as Gargand Lal did in India. “Even though quite a good number has an idea about global warming, misconception among different grades exists. I was therefore concluded that climate change and global warming be involved in the curriculum to educate students about its effect and find out the solution at tender age” (Gargantuas and Lal 2013).

Another solution essential to curb climate change is changing our daily diet. Most persons prefer to consume meat, while if we switch to plants, we may be able to lower our carbon footprint. Oxford University Researchers Thomas Nemeck and Joseph Poore commenced investigating what effects does agriculture poses on the environment on a global level. They discovered that 90% of the human diet originated from 40 food products that were produced from 40,000 farms from 119 countries. “Even the lowest effect of beef needs 36 times large land and develop six times more gases from greenhouse than peas!” (Kochel, 2019). We can perform our part by avoiding animal-related food to plant-based food to eliminate methane gas emission.

Argument

We must ask ourselves whether it is us humans that are responsible for climate change and global warming around the globe. “For more than 2.7 million years ago, the globe has been irregular between shorter interglacial periods and long ice ages” (Andrew 2016). Some discoveries indicate that climate has changed as a result of our industrial and agricultural revolution. Andrew progress to say that roughly a million years ago, the ice age uses to happen every 100,000 years 90,000 for ice age and 10,000 for warm glacial time. When the previous ice arrived, several animals like saber-toothed animals and mammoth went extinct. Since we are due to another ice age, this would cause grave outcomes on the current civilization as much of the areas would be covered by ice. This would make a large piece of land hard to habituate, and there would be no agriculture left. This condition may cause massive loss of lives, migration of individuals to warmer regions, thus causing overcrowding hence pose other challenges.

A journal created by Alvarez-Ellacuria, et al. discovered that the beach shoreline variation is due to climate change caused by present humans. Two climatic incidences were observed, known as representative concentrated pathways (RCP 45 and RCP 85). It was later discovered that the beach undergoes coastal retreat with present projections” (Enriquez et al. 2017).

Identical studies and experiments performed by Chinese researchers whose main intention was to predict alteration upcoming in big cities around China. They looked at Shanghai, but sea level was considered a danger. By the use of the advanced levels of technology, researchers were capable of realizing that due to climate change and global warming, the coastal levels of Shanghai will rise by the year 2030 (Cheng et al. 2018).

Ethical Outcomes

The effects of global warming must happen to the general public. This awareness will have negative and positive influence globally, such as threatening large organizations to move towards environmentally friendly production to minimize the emission of carbon. The result of this action would be the rise of products’ cost, and we as customers will be left with no other option but to carry the burden. Changing our diet will indeed control methane emissions in the atmosphere, but it will influence the farming industry and the average lifestyle.

Conclusion

Global warming, which is a result of climate change, is a process that occurs on earth and has a cycle. Humans may have played a role in global warming and climate change, but there is a positive result of it. Through this, humans may have postponed the next ice age, which would have had adverse effects on human lives. We should now try hard to lower pollution and turn out to be environmentally friendly to our levels. We must educate our generation as soon as possible to avoid the same mistake humans conducted during the agricultural –industrial revolution. For us to be successful, the whole world must work together to accomplish our objectives and create a better future.
