Studying social networks helps us comprehend the influence of gender, and consensus influences the nuances of social interaction. Gender and consensus are two critical, independent variables that play an essential role in the communicating purpose of social media.  Previous research has shown that inequalities that are gender-specific can originate from society. This differentiation is aggravated by societal expectations, which is why cyberbullies find it more comfortable in a space such as social media where they do not have accountability.

The digital traces that we leave behind as offer up a new lens that we can use to study behavior patterns as an expression of gender. As such, the association between social media and gender could be essential in exploring how consensus conditioning and gender influence the interactions in social media. Human beings are social animals who always try to align their behaviors to conform to those of the people in their social network. Their opinions are often influenced by the consensus condition of their social network. Gender differentiation has always been researched as an interdisciplinary study, but behavioral differences have roots in different biological roles based on society’s values. Studies show that similar consensus will automatically follow each other in terms of decision making when it comes to social media. Consensus conditioning supports the same consensus condition while having in mind the influence of gender. Gender and consensus are independent variables that can have different outcomes.
