stakeholders in a technology-centric organization
Different perspectives and objectives of stakeholders in a technology-centric organization can lead to some challenges. There will be conflicting interests which may lead to misunderstanding in the organizations. The technologists may come up with a decision to invent a new technology which will be used in place of some employees. The employees may see this technology as a threat and hence end up neglecting the new change. So, the employees and the technologists will not cooperate, and this will lead to low performance of the organization. However, the conflicting interest can be solved by including all the stakeholders or their representatives in the decision making.
Different objectives will lead to poor efficiency and performance. The stakeholders in a technology-centric organization have different powers. So, this means that the objectives and the perspectives of the people who have greater power will be considered correct. This should not be the case, since less powerful stakeholders such as employees may have objectives and strategy which may be helpful in the operation of the organization. If their objectives and ideas are neglected, then the organization may end up not succeeding as expected. I have experienced a case where my managers ignored my point of view in some marketing strategy. After neglecting my perspective, the managers ended up not attracting more customers. If they could have listed to my point of view, then they would have attracted more customers.
