Critical Reflection
Following the outbreak of COVID-19, there has been an unusual ending of the course, which has led to self-quarantine. The sudden change in studying has disrupted my day to day activities. The fact that medical professionals have not found a cure for the virus makes the future uncertain. In my opinion, if the cure for the virus is not found soon, the world’s economy will fall. The outbreak of the virus has changed my mind about my plans for completing the study course within the stipulated period. I prefer to be home, close to my family members and loved ones during this time of the epidemic. Being at home reduces the risk of exposure to the virus and ensures one receives proper care from loved ones as well as family members. The outbreak of COVID-19 has taught me that every second in this world is valuable, and we should cherish it.
The unusual discontinuation of learning has had an impact on the daily activities in my life. Parents and everyone in the world expect students to be in session during this particular time. As a student, one has a schedule of the activities that they should be undertaking during a specific semester. However, with the sudden disruption of learning, the students can no longer follow the schedule as well as the daily tasks in life. Being a student, I have had to find alternative ways of spending my time, and my life has been disrupted. The discontinuation of studies makes the future uncertain. In my opinion, the fact that there is no found cure for the virus is an indication that the future of the world is at risk. The economy of the globe is likely going to deteriorate if the virus is not contained soon.
In line with the disruption of learning, I have changed my mind about plans for completing my studies within the stipulated period. The fact that we are not in session means that it will take longer to complete the course than previously expected. Students will have to resume studies after the complete management of the virus. The lack of a cure for COVID- 19 makes it difficult to predict the period that students will be expected to be out of session (World Health Organization). As a result, it is difficult to make plans for the future.
I prefer to be at home rather than in Canada during this period of the epidemic. I believe people should be close to their loved ones and family members. The self-isolation is an excellent time to mend broken relationships and strengthen existing ones. Being with family members makes it easy to cope with the current change of events. I would prefer being at home since it reduces the risk of exposure to the virus. Staying at home helps reduce the rate of spread of the virus (Bai). Family members are more likely to take care of an individual than strangers during stressful moments.
The outbreak of COVID-19 is responsible for the unusual disruption of studies in Canada as well as around the world. The closure of school activities has disrupted my life and left a lot of free time on my hands. My future and that of the world are uncertain, especially since the virus does not have a cure. Staying at home reduces the probability of contracting the virus and spreading it. Embracing every minute that one has with the people they care about is one of the positive lessons I have learned during this period.
