Home Décor
Our living room combines interior designs from western ideas and Chinese traditionally valued decorations. The furniture is mainly westernized since we have a typical grey couch. The living room os further decorated with pictures of my family members. This is not uncommon in a Chinese homestead since it signals the importance of family. On the peripheral walks, we have wooden candle holders that are used to hold several candles. On the left wall where we hang out T.V a green Feng Shui light decorated with a picture of a branch a tree, a hangs as a traditional contrast to the modern T.V set up. Additionally, our walls are painted in red-orange. Correctly, the wall behind the T.V is painted with a bright red color. The rest of the living room is decorated with orange wallpaper. On each corner of the room, we have porcelain vessels decorated with dragon drawings. Lastly, a traditional Chinese low-back armchair set near the exit of the living room.
The decorations present in our living room have sentimental and religious value. The presence of all our family members’ pictures indicates out the need for family love and unity. My parents believe in the equal importance of each family member and therefore included all of our photographs to facilitate inclusion. Secondly, the candles are a traditional Chinese representation of the Feng Shui of fire, an essential element in our culture. As one of the traditional Chinese elements, fire, also popularly known as Huo, represents interactions and relationships within the universe. The vessels are standard features in the Chinese culture. In a comprehensive and generalized manner, vessels represent wine, which was firmly related to the Shamanism and worshiping spirits. Additionally, the presence of dragons on the vessels further emphasizes power and good luck. Circling back, Feng Shui means a flow of energies within the architectural and interior design elements of a building

On the other hand, the orange-colored wallpaper wands off negative feelings and encourages joy and feelings of happiness. In summation, the color decorations in our living room combine elements that attract luck and mood enhancers.
