Addressing Population Growth in Developing Countries
The best strategies that can be formulated to address the issue of population growth in developing countries successfully are creating awareness of the dangers of uncontrolled population growth. Formulating legislation that controls the number of children a family can have, empowering women, and advocating for family planning methods (Solutions. 2020). I believe these strategies can work effectively in controlling the population growth in most developing countries that are faced with the threat of overpopulation in the country.
First, the sensitization or creating awareness among the population of the harm and threat that overpopulation can cause; it makes people reason and plan themselves to prevent it from happening. Legislative such as the one-child policy in china can help reduce the growth of the population immensely as people are afraid to break the law because of the legal consequences. When women are empowered, they have goals and objectives to achieve in life, which reduces their pregnancy rates as the pregnancy acts as a hindrance to them attain their goals. Advocating for family planning use in the country will also help reduce the number of children born in a specific period resulting in population decrease and management.
