The National Society of College Scholars is a student body entitled to coordinating scholarship opportunities for its members. The mission of this organization is to honor, inspire, and engage the student members so that they can achieve the best from their collegiate experience. As a member of this body, I can demonstrate these qualities in different ways. First, concerning honoring, I would demonstrate high standards of discipleship to those in a leadership position by adhering to instructions and acting in line with the directives of those in a leadership position. Besides, as a member, I would engage in community services to offer training and mentorship to the members of the society as a way of inspiring the nation to learn the best practices that would help in improving the quality of their contribution to community development and excellence.
Additionally, I would also organize awareness campaigns on various health hazards, such as the outbreak of notifiable diseases. Through such activities, my actions shall create awareness and inspiration to the members of the society. Lastly, About engagement, I would ensure that I consider the views and opinions of the stakeholders in every decision that I make during the campaigns and sensitization programs so that everyone feels included and involved in the activities that take place within their proximity.
Again, as I prepare to enroll for a bachelor’s degree in registered nursing, I feel that this platform will also allow me to develop competency in leadership and administration to community programs on my field of specialization. Since NSCS is recognized for its leadership development programs, I shall imitate and replicate these values to the community to equip them with the requisite skills for dealing with acute diseases that would occur in their societies. Besides, I will involve in creating and maintaining a network with peers; community leads persons and the administration at large. Through such networking, I will be engaging with different stakeholders on a plethora of health issues at their levels. This will also help me to develop my network base and acquaintances with other people in my field of profession. Lastly, the NSCS also allows members to participate in practical leadership, thereby engaging individuals to test their leadership prowess. I shall take up the challenge and work in the leadership chapter of my state. Being right in record keeping, I shall volunteer and work in the capacity of a secretary of the organization to horn my leadership skills. Working in such a position will not only allow me to interact at a close range with other players in the health sector but shall enable me to get involved in the leadership system and engage my leadership and professional skills effectively.
