Business Leadership and Ethics Considerations
I plan to undertake a business venture into the music industry by establishing a recording studio. The studio will be an avenue for different artists, musicians, and other entertainers to pit forth their talent. It will offer them a chance to not only record and produce what they bring but also work on perfecting their art. The studio will provide training and exposure prospects for the artists who shall primarily comprise of upcoming and new faces in the market. It will develop their talent by offering to coach and presenting their word to the broader worldwide platform. My team shall comprise of a producer, recording engineer, studio manager, and a studio assistant. The music producer shall assist in achieving my goals and objectives by selecting the sounds in a composition and the final arrangements. This case would need close work with the recording engineer that will have charge over mixing and altering the sounds to produce the ideal beats and music or recording. The studio manager shall also be significant to the plan as they would oversee the general working of the studio. They would need to have excellent people skill to interact with clients and keeping the business on its toes. The assistant shall offer administrative support such as scheduling, bookings, contacting clients, and also managing the studio’s calendar.
The studio shall adopt a flat organizational culture. Everyone shall have a voice and responsibility for their work areas. Being a small company, a clear distinction between each team member’s roles would not be hard. They would have decision-making power with minimal supervision. This case also means that the studio would have to hire competent and qualified personnel to have such autonomy. The members shall also learn to be their bosses and that they would be accountable for their actions. The company shall ensure leadership credibility through strict policies that resound giving and earning respect. The team members shall be required to walk the talk and act more. They shall also focus on their individual goals and go beyond it. Their expertise and proficiency will allow the delivery of quality and up to par work. There will also be a lot of teamwork and brainstorming sessions that will let everyone know about each other’s jobs. This case will create collaborations and trustworthy relationships within the workplace.
One of the ways for fostering collaborations, as I have highlighted above, shall be through team-building exercises. However, it shall also include such interactions as lunches together where the staff get to talk and interact with each other. This case would build cohesion and respect for one another as they get to know each other in-depth. The second way of boosting morale and ensuring shared vision shall be through communicating the company expectations. They would understand that collaborating is the bare minimum. This part shall also include a clear outline of everyone’s roles and responsibilities while even identifying how they relate and contribute to each other’s achievements. The third means shall be maintaining an open and positive work environment. Such a place would allow the employees the freedom to expound on their creative abilities. The work environment shall also have motivating and inspiring factors to push the members through their goals. It shall understand their strengths and offer them opportunities to improve their weak areas.
