The message attached is convincing because it intends to make the readers agree with its arguments. The writer of the message is trying to present the evidence of the coronavirus, he has researched this illness, and he is very knowledgeable about this ailment. The target audience

The target audience for this message is the general public. Coronus virus has spread worldwide, and thus it has affected everyone in the world. The message intends to convince the general public, whether sick or not, to protect themselves and others from the virus. The piece wants to persuade the audience to have a positive attitude as they face this pandemic. It creates awareness of the disease by educating them on how they should protect themselves against the virus. The writer has used demonstrations of people washing their hands using sanitizers; the writer’s intentions are encouraging to behave to adopt this behavior of cleanliness to protect themselves against the virus. The message has adequate information on guidelines and steps on how to protect oneself and others against coronavirus.

Determining the effectiveness or ineffectiveness of message using the Elaboration Likelihood Model

The elaboration -likelihood theory says that when the writer brings the news to the audience, the amount of explanation should be seen. ‘Elaboration’ is the quantity of exertion that the listeners have to apply so that they can analyze the information, recall it, and decide on whether to receive or discard the message. The models state that the audience reacts towards the message using two channels, depending on the amount of effort they require to comprehend the message. The two channels are central and peripheral route processing.

The central route process argues that the listeners understand the information better when they are highly motivated. This channel involves the usage of a high level of elaboration. Therefore, in this channel of ELM, the audience is aware of what is important to them, and only the strength of the message can persuade them. In peripheral route processing, the listeners are not influenced by the effectiveness of the word. This channel incorporates a low level of elaboration.in this channel, the listeners are aware of what is important to them, but they do not much; that means they may be lacking some information. Therefore, using the elaborate likelihood model, I can conclude the message was compelling. This is because the target of the audience is the general public. The general public has two groups of people, people who are aware of the disease, how it is spread, and how to prevent or protect themselves against this fall in the channel of Central route processing. This group requires a strong message to persuade them, which is provided by the writer of this piece. The other group in the general public is people who are aware of the coronavirus that exists, but they do not know how it’s spread or prevented. These groups can have a misconception about the disease; they fall in a peripheral route processing channel that requires a low level of elaboration. The message about coronavirus is detailed with facts. The piece explains how it is spread and how to control it through protecting ourselves. Therefore it provides adequate information enough to persuade the group with a low level of elaboration. Therefore, after analyzing the content of the message using the elaborating likelihood theory, I can say that it is useful as both groups represented by the general public are persuaded.

Resisting the message using influence

Inoculation theory narrates how attitude and beliefs can be protected against impact through exposing the weak areas. The influence may come from direct or indirect backtracks and sustained pressures from sources like the media, peer pressure, and advertisement. The message of the coronavirus can be resisted if the audience is influenced. The influence may result from spreading false information about the disease; for example, some preachers may convince the audience that the disease can be prevented by just praying. Other people may spread the misconception that the virus only affects the rich in society. Misconceptions, myths, and false information can make the audience resist the message of Covid-19.
