Chiropractic care in Pain Management
As a medical staff member working in a long-term care nursing home, chronic neck and back pains are prevalent illnesses, especially for elderly patients. Therefore, this paper outlines the findings of the medical journal “Experiences with chiropractic care for patients with low back and neck pain.” As a result, it illustrates the chiropractic method of treatment as an essential technique of managing pain for patients with low back and neck pains. The article was published on May 31, 2019, and it is a quantitative study that bases its findings on numerical data. The core purpose of the study is to examine and derive conclusions from the precise experiences of patients who are under the chiropractic pain management system. To be more specific, the research focuses on patients with choric low back and pain neck within the United States of America (Hays et al. 2019).
The main research questions are: is chiropractic treatment effective for adult patients with neck and back pains? Secondly, what is the level of satisfaction for patients who have been treated under the chiropractic care system? The study involved observational research of a total of 1853 patients with chronic neck and back pains (74% female). To be more precise, the study involved a three-month follow up on patients through online questionnaires regarding their personal experiences with chiropractic care. Also, there was an assessment through the Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and System (CAHPS). In the long run, the outcome was 85% percent of participants from the CAHPS, and 79% of respondents from the questionnaires acknowledge that the chiropractic pain management care was beneficial in terms of time-management and overall attention (Hays et al. 2019). In conclusion, the positive experience outcome of the study indicates the effectiveness of chiropractic treatment, especially for patients with chronic low back and neck pains.
