Abstract

I am highly interested in studying this course at this university. Having worked as a yoga instructor and life coach for a long time has made me develop interests in expanding my knowledge and expertise in this area. This has driven my decision to join the program as it will enable me to develop interdisciplinary skills in yoga that will go a long way in helping me deliver quality coaching to clients. Columbia University looms large in my mind as it is an Ivy League University with prestigious academic excellence hence guaranteed quality education, particularly in my area of study. This program is a huge boost, too my academic knowledge and qualifications and combines well with the courses I have studied. It will help me develop in my field of interest and daily practice, as well.

Why Me

I am a dedicated yoga instructor and life coach with the thirst to provide clients with the best quality and informed coaching. I am, therefore, applying for this program to help further the knowledge I have acquired in this field by completing various relevant degrees and certifications in this field. The relevant qualifications I have gathered in this field include; BA History (Intelectual & Women’s History emphasis) from the University of San Diego and BA Humanistic Studies from the University of Humanistic Studies. These are cross-disciplinary fields to SMB MA program and will, therefore, integrate into helping grow my expertise in the field of yoga and life coaching. Other certifications that I have acquired throughout the course of my studies and career include Health Coach Certification, Reiki Training, Pranic Energy Work and Healing as well as different Yoga certifications.  

In my experience as wellness, yoga, and meditation teacher, I have handled many clients, including women, celebrities, athletes, corporations, high school and college students and, many more. I began by meeting organizations, communities, and students and become their ally, where I considered myself part of them and helped them where possible. Until today I continue communicating with the people that I worked with since I could be trusted, and I always made myself available. I hope to further develop my skills as an advocate and trusted youth for the people so that I can be able to offer the best interventions, referrals, and support that addresses their needs and improve their lives in overall. I also wish to be a motivation for other people by serving as a role model. I am applying for this program as I am certain that it will help me improve the service I deliver to the vast number of clients I handle and improve their needs.

Why This Specific Program

This program is important to me as it gives me the opportunity to further develop my skills in wellness coaching and energy healing. The work requires me to create a form of connection with my clients. The knowledge acquired in this program will help me create the connection required to ensure the effectiveness of my coaching. My goal has always been to help people experience gratitude and feel more alive. To achieve this, I need to be able to help my clients create a connection between their spiritual, physical, and mental well-being. This enables them to fully acknowledge who they are and create peace within themselves. I find this program best suited to provide me with the necessary knowledge that I require to be able to achieve this. This program will also enable me to develop the necessary values required in my work, such as sustainability in personal growth and spiritual leadership development. The program provides an integrative and interdisciplinary approach to learning psychology.

Why Now

I believe this is the right time for me to go to attend this course after having much professional experience. Additionally, at this age, I possess emotional and intellectual maturity. From my experience with dealing with people from various backgrounds in the work that I do, especially yoga, I have learned that it is important for me to study this course. People have approached me and explained their deepest worries and stresses that they undergo in their lives every day. It has been clear that I should intervene and be of help to them, and this program will enable me to expand my knowledge and enable me to provide informed mentorship to my clients.  This program resonates with what I do daily.

What Motivates Me to Take This Program

Having been a Yoga mediation teacher, energy healer, wellness coach, and worked in many other areas of the profession, I have come to understand the various problems that people face every day. This has made me develop a special interest in studying spiritual psychology so that I can use this knowledge in helping people tackle their problems in life.  Over time, I realized that I had a burning desire to become a spiritual psychologist. My works have earned me quite a number of awards, and this has increased my inspiration and motivation in this field. My motivation is not towards getting more awards but is driven by the recognition of my work and the desire to do more. My emotional and spiritual growth will be challenged by attending your program, where I will be able to sharpen my skills to help people lead a complete life.
