Need for Organization Special Assessment

Organization capacity assessment is a vital tool used by the organization in a bid to develop self-assessment of the organizational capacity in order to develop a good action plan. The action plan is meant to improve its capacity. Organization assessment usually helps the organization to look back on its function versus the benchmark. Organization assessment, specifically in a non-governmental organization provides the avenues that can be used by the organization to make a special adjustment on its overall performance. An organization can only perform if each and everyone within the organization performs its roles effectively (Glor, 2007).

A self-assessment criterion gives the organization room to assess their personal assessment needs. However, the given set of criteria is mainly used to look into management criteria and in building quality healthcare system.  Organization assessment also acts as a tool that used in looking into the major areas of the organization that need strengthening.  In general capacity, assessment is a tool that is used by the organization to look into the general operation and makes changes that may be needed by the organization. Through assessment, it is possible to gauge the level of staff performances in the organization that is always a critical point in decision-making. The organization can also look into areas that they feel need some immediate adjustment that may, in turn, boost the level of performance (Andrews et al.,2010)

Engaging employees through assessment is helpful and thoughtful since it helps to boost employee’s engagement, retention rates and the level of motivation. The assessment also builds individual behaviour within the organization that is more vital in non-profit organizations. The process also enhances the development of better working conditions and robust organization. Capacity assessment can be used in a non-profit organization as a mechanism of building future leaders within the organization.

Most of the non-profit organization have leant and changed the process of performance into assessment models. For instance, the latest research by Bridgespan found out that a higher percentage of non-profit organizations gauged their organization as weak based on the level of assessment. A smaller percentage placed performance assessment weak in the top five lists besides weakness in communication priorities.

Assessment is also helpful in coordinating leadership succession across organization boundaries that in return, gives a good picture of the organization and the staff at large. Assessment act as a platform that offers development and growth opportunities to staff members within an organization hence provide development opportunity to the organization. However, some elements of dissatisfaction based on performance assessment usually crop-up, which is not strange with a non-profit organization. The non-profit organization, however, does not have many challenges that can deter the effective implementation process. The biggest challenge in no-n profit organization is the process of determining the characteristics of its culture. Good assessment is usually based on a given number of elements such as the setting of specific goals, giving feedback from the set goals, performing an annual review of the goals, having professional development plans and finally getting started(Andrews et al.,2010).

These five elements are some of the fundamental guides that dictate the performance of n organization. A non-profit organization is embedded in performances that must be given good room for thriving. However, the level of performance of a no-profit organization is usually pegged on capacity assessment. Overall assessment of the organization helps to increase performance and leadership roles. Through assessment, the leadership of the organization may learn some of the challenges the staff team and facing and come up with recommendations or solutions that can solve the problems. In general capacity, the assessment provides the stepping stone and alternative leadership models that non-profit organization can use in pushing their agendas (Svensson, Andersson & Faulk, 2018).
