The project is a collaborative enterprise that is organized to attain a specific purpose. The main attributes of the project are scope, objectives, resources, team, cots, and timelines. The project differs from what most people do in their day-to-day jobs in several ways. It varies in terms of objective, schedule, budget, resources, team, and focus. Day to day activities adhere to outlined standard operating procedures and have general aims for the long term. In contrast, the projects have particular short term goals, under constraints of a limited budget, time resources.
Top management commitment is the number one factor linked with the success of information technology projects, so it’s very crucial to get and maintain this support. Top management can help the project managers to get enough and required resources, approve unique project’s needs, get cooperation from other parts of the organization and offer support as a mentor and coach to project managers. It was also crucial in various management initiatives. It helps in providing a guide of the junior employee somewhat they should do and what they should engage in the act of delivering the best services in the company.
It facilitates employee empowerment and improved levels of job satisfaction through its leadership and commitment to the total quality management goal of the client’s fulfillment through creating an organizational climate that emphasizes overall quality and customer satisfaction. Through the top management committee, it helps in producing high-quality products despite variations in individual constructs and that in firms with low high management commitment on four aspects such as customer, focus, supplier, quality management, and empowerment.
The development of standards for successful project management is significant in providing ethics to be followed. For example, at my workplace, I observed many cases of top management committee being useful through guiding us and empowering the employees. The unique challenges that IT projects presents are, poor communication between teams, murky delivery models, lack of project management practices, mid-project adjustments.
