Scenario
You have just started your placement with a social service organisation. You feel excited about the placement opportunity as it allows you to work in a team of experienced social workers. The service provision of the organisation is informed and guided by NATIONAL ABORIGINAL AND TORRES STRAIT ISLANDER HEALTH PLAN 2013–2023 social policy (uploaded). The organisation has been invited by the AASW to contribute to an upcoming submission to a government review of this policy. In preparation for an upcoming staff meeting, your supervisor asks you to support the agency in this task by undertaking a values and ideology analysis.
Task description:
Familiarise yourself with the uploaded NATIONAL ABORIGINAL AND TORRES STRAIT ISLANDER HEALTH PLAN 2013–2023 social policy. Consider the social, political and economic context in which the policy has been developed and/or was implemented. Identify, interpret and evaluate the professional and public values and ideologies that impact and inform the content of the policy and the implementation process. Your analysis needs to address how these professional and public values and ideologies align with current social work values and ideologies. You need to evidence your claims with specific examples in the policy.[unique_solution]

Criteria
- Identification and interpretation of values and ideologies 25%
– Identifies & interprets professional and public values and ideologies and how these impact on the NATIONAL ABORIGINAL AND TORRES STRAIT ISLANDER HEALTH PLAN 2013–2023 social policy process in a highly sophisticated, comprehensive and insightful manner.
- Critical and theoretical analysis of values and ideologies 25%
– Sophisticated critique of the way in which social work values and ideologies align or otherwise with identified professional and public values and ideologies, appropriately using theoretical material to inform the critical analysis.
- Organisation of theoretical concepts and principles 20%
– Appropriate extraction of key theoretical concepts, principles and ideas from texts demonstrating a sophisticated understanding of these.
- Logic and grammar 20%
– The analysis is presented in a professional manner displaying excellent written expression, organisation of material and logical coherence.
- Referencing APA 7th 10%
– APA conventions are diligently followed when citing sources in text and the reference list is complete, presented alphabetically, using correct APA syntax and conventions
