Victimology

Question 1

Routine/lifestyles theory fits within the state dependence and risk heterogeneity explanations of recurring victimization as it shows that people get used to a particular form of life. As it pertains to state dependence, it is established that people maintain a specific form of memory that is sustained for long. For the most part, people attain a significant level of consciousness where they become used to some level of victimization. They maintain the feeling that being victimized is part of life (Cho et al., 2017). As a result, there is the chance that they might not have the feeling that they must adopt the right mechanisms, which will contribute to the notable change. People who are continually victimized do not attain the idea that they must aim towards adopting the specific change which will be appropriate for their lives. As a result, there is a high chance that they would provide an excellent opportunity for the propagation of victimization.

Risk heterogeneity also presents the chance of people being continually victimized and, thereby, fail to adopt the right mechanisms, which will enable them to be outstanding in beating the challenges. People are more likely to internalize the harmful effects which they are exposed to. The situation shows that there is a high chance that they would be continually exposed to the various challenges which they might be exposed to (Cho et al., 2017). It is established that people are more likely to be used to a given form of crime, thereby ensuring that there is a possibility of them constantly facing the various problems which they are exposed to. It is through the process that they continue to suffer from the various challenges which they are exposed to.

Question 2

I believe that it is the role of the criminal justice system to provide victims with rights. The system needs to ensure that the perpetrators of victimization are arrested and made to pay for the crimes they do. Law enforcement needs to base its actions on conducting investigations. The process will enable them to easily identify people who have engaged in acts of victimization (Cho et al., 2017). It is through the process that they are more likely to adopt the right measures, which will be appropriate in boosting the welfare of people who are victimized. Where there is the continuity of actions aimed at arresting victimizers, there is a high chance their number will reduce. Essentially, many people will attain the idea that they stand the risk of facing the adverse outcomes that accrue from engaging in acts of victimization.

We could talk to victims to motivate them to talk about the problems they experience. The situation will be highly critical in ensuring that they receive help. The mechanism will be essential in terms of enabling victims to speak out about the various challenges they experience. The process will be appropriate in ensuring that law enforcement attains the necessary information, which will be highly relevant in terms of calling for the specific change deemed desirable (Cho et al., 2017). As a result, there is a high chance that they would be willing to support the victims in a bid to enable them to gain access to the assistance they need. The process will be most appropriate in improving the outcomes which stand to be attained.
