Discuss multi-cultural America and race

Multiculturalism refers to the availability of various cultures in one space. Multiculturalism in the United States refers to the different cultures that are found in the United States.  The United States, currently inhibited by various cultures, present different histories on how these cultures got into the country and the events that followed the multiple cultures going into the United States. While the aspect of multiculturalism is currently efficiently adopted in the United States, there is the fact that the various cultures present in the country got into the country with various motives. This paper explores the factor of the immigration of the Europeans and African Americans into the United States.

The immigration of the Europeans to the United States represents the first immigration into the country. The migration of the Europeans into the United States followed exploration expeditions that led to the discovery of the land s that at the time was inhabited by the native Americans who were mainly Indians. The notable immigration of the Europeans into the United States began in the year 1492.  This mass immigration, however, followed at least one know colonization attempt of the country by the Europeans. The very fast Europeans to reach Americans were, however, European Vikings who got to the country in the eleventh century and established various colonies.  The colonies established by these Europeans in Greenland survived for several centuries before they eventually collapsed. The Europeans in these colonies experienced significant hostilities from the indigenous inhabitants of the region.  A Spanish expedition headed by Christopher Columbus reached the Americas in 1492, a factor that opened a mass immigration of Europeans into the region.

The immigration of African Americans to the United States mainly happened through forced migration. In this sense, the African Americans were taken into America to work as slaves in the American plantations. The African Americans who were brought from their homelands in Africa were taken to the United States to provide free labour in the American farms and the American homes.  The slavery of the Africans in America mainly happened during the 17th and the 18th century, during which approximately six million to seven million Africans were enslaved in America to replace the initial labour force that was provided by the poor Europeans.  The

Although the Europeans and the African Americans both migrated into the United States, there are significant differences in the immigrations of the two groups into the United States. There are also differences in the outcomes presented by both groups. For the Europeans, their immigration into the United States was mainly voluntarily. They migrated to the United States as part of exploration expeditions, and in search for better living standards presented by more fertile lands for agriculture. The movement of the African Americans into the United States, on the other hand, was involuntary. The African Americans were forcefully taken into America as slaves to provide free labour for the thriving American plantations. Unlike the Europeans who essentially created the governing rules following their movement into the United States, the African Americans were moved into the United States and denied all their rights and freedom.

The outcome of the movement of the African American and the Europeans into the United States are also significantly different. For the African Americans, the primary issue that they presented following their movement onto the United States mainly entailed the provision of free labour for the American plantations through slavery.   The outcomes of the immigration of the Europeans u-into the United States are, however vast. They include that the indigenous inhabitants who the Europeans found in the United States were outnumbered and became extinct.  The Europeans also brought about diseases and infections into the United States. The native Indians who lived in the Americas were mainly hunters and gatherers, the movement of the Europeans into the United States disrupted the food supply of the motives as they occupied land that was used by the natives to generate foods. The movement of the Europeans onto the United States brought about the aspect of Christianization of the natives as the Europeans were mainly Christians.

The Europeans and the African Americans both immigrated into the United States present various differences. While the movement of the Europeans into the United States was voluntary, the African Americans were taken into the United Stated involuntarily through slavery. The impacts of the immigrations were different. The European movement into the United States had various effects, including the extinction of the indigenous population, the bringing of diseases into America and the disruption of food supplies. The movement of the African Americans, on the other hand, provided free slave labour.
